So on the Bird there are quite a few tyre options. On the front I'm gonna give a DHF 2.3 Exo 3c Minion a go, what would you team it with on the back though? The DHR version of the Minion at 2.3 also? Or go 'lighter' with a dual compound Ardent 2.25? or even an even lighter WTB Trail Boss TCS 2.25 ?
Always had Schwalbe so have no idea at all on the Maxxis range.
2.25? was thinking that myself, having no experience I'm thinking with the kind of riding I do a good, grippy tyre on the front but something faster rolling on the back - reckon that covers the Ardent/Minion combo then mate?
High roller better than the Minion Wolfie? and go with 2.25 Ardent on the back?
not saying one is better than the other, these 2 tyres are done to death in threads which is bestest.. I have both and changed many times to see what the fuss all about both EXO 60a ..just prefer the high roller for all around and doesn't hold mud like the minion.
defo ardent or Ikon rear.. not sure the sizing on 2.4 in 27.5 flavour.. but i'm very sure the 2.25 in 26" is massive
That's the exact combo I run on the yeti. The ardent is a great rear tyre and has been faultless in every condition but deep mud. Rolls really easy and has good side grip when leant over. I run the 26" 2.25 as the 2.4 would be too big on the yeti it dosnt take a big rear tyre well. As for the minion on the front it's another great all rounder, especially in the exo set up tubless. I run 2.5 but it's not a big 2.5 like some tyres. In fact I'd say the 2.3 hans dampf I had on before was bigger.
