rite guys,
whats your thoughts, ive been running a set of 26x2.4'' on the Leela now, and i just cant get on with them... read some reviews online and people said how great they were, however they were sliding out in the dry and had no grip in the mud, they just clogged up. i should probably have a play about with the pressure but after getting a snake bite puncture, i decided to increase the pressure front and rear abit...
should i stick with them or go back to my trusted Baron or push the boat out and get some Schwalbes

I love em,I find them really grippy in damp rooty conditions, the prefect tyre for UK trail centers.I run around 20psi in mine.which compound have you got? I run the trail extreme. The can get a bit clogged in really muddy condition but I normally change my tyres for a mud tyre though winter

Well I've stuck a Schwalbe Dirty Dan on for now, as we had about a months worth of rain in a day and the trails were so muddy
When it dries out again, I'll give the Chunky Monkeys another go, maybe reduce the pressure a bit

Just say what you think Ad, don't fanny about being all on the fence about it I wouldn't say they are the best tyre, but for the £15 I paid, they are spot on on the single speed. Obvs, the HD's and Minions are a more 'serious' bit of kit, but I wouldn't bin them. Just my opinion, loike. Can you or Gaz get time off for the Degla trip mate?

Tyres are a personal thing, like saddles, and bar grips. ive never seen a full consensus or agreement. im often guilty of forgetting to add its only my opinion!... but i found them honestly pathetic. Unfortunatley i cant make week rides. as much as id like too. however given enough notice i could be available for a long weekend a friday or monday ride. ive pretty much given up cycling to be honest. not through my own choice... wrote off elbow, and now knee ligaments. depressing as im now feeling old and tired!... really need some consistant riding, Gaz has been pretty quiet on the cycling front, and a lot of rides on here im unable to make, due to it being weekday events... depressing!...

Been running one up front most of the year had no problems so far with it as moto said low pressures work best so they can squidge into everything

Feels like you are on rails it's that good. It was designed specifically for UK trail centres and it's a fine tyre - IMO.

I just didn't feel comfortable with it.
The Dirty Dan I'm now running is so good, it's tread pattern is much like the Baron on my old bike, and it has so much grip... It's yet to slide out at all, ever!!!!
If I'm going to do a long ride, I might give the Monkey ago, but seriously, the grip from the new Schwalbe rubber is too good
Now though, I have swapped my inner tubes to schrader so I will be able to check and adjust pressure properly, so it may make a difference...

Got a chunky monkey for a tenner last year, rude not to. Ran it a bit on the rear, grips ok but felt it was a bit weighty and draggy compared to the nobby nic it replaced, so got another nobby nic and keep the chunky as a spare but dont reckon it will ever go back on as its an ardent next for me to try.... but like the nic, thats about 4 times the price and I dont think it will be 4 times the tyre either but I like to try different combos.
Edit.....scrap that its the smorgasbord I got, can not help with chunky monkey.

I have been massively impressed with the Ardent on the rear of the Bird. Wouldn't fancy it on the front but on the back it's the best tyre I've had. Enough grip without drag and fast rolling.

Now, this is starting to take the piss! I've only had my Maxim for two months. When I got it, the Chunky Monkeys were barely worn, looked new! Since having the bike, I've not exactly been out on it al the time. Probably say 20 times max! When cleaning the bike today, my tyre looks shredded! Very had this with my Continentals. They lasted ages and wore away more gradually It's not as if I've been skidding the bike either Haha! Is this normal wear? Looks like the tyre is blistering like a racing car!

Is that on the front or rear. I run a Smorg on the rear and it looks the same as that after 3-4 months of riding. The chunky Monkey on the front lasted 12 month of riding 3 time a week.

That's the rear mate!
I'm now running a Schwalbe Dirty Dan on the front. Runs much better and it's not worn either
