So, I've been running the Hans Dampf 2.25 front and rear (top spec, more draggy)...they feel good, never really failed on me in terms of grip...in fact they are probably a bit too draggy sometimes... Just had a look at them now and noticed a lot of the side nobbly bits are cracking...that's a bit sh1t really!? I've got a Maxxis HR II 2.3 and a Ikon MaxxSpeed 2.35 i got from a friend as new...thinking about maybe swapping these for the "summer"...just not sure if i would be doing a good thing or not? Any thoughts?

They say the HD's are one of the best all season combos... For me I'd prefer to have a summer and winter tyre. i hate my HR on the rear! It'll be going on the front, as we're getting 3 months of Sahara temperatures.. (Apparently) I'm going for a 2,25 Crossmark on the rear. Should be very fast, until the damp comes..

That's what I'm thinking now the weather is getting a bit dryer...save the HD for the mud later in the year and put the HRII on the front with the MaxxSpeed Ikon on the rear...should make it go fast and less draggy! I can always give it a try I guess and get a feel for it! In a few weeks it is due to get a Stans top up, so I might just do it then!

Thanks Malamute...coming from you, a weight-weenie, strava-God, it gives me more confidence! Lol Later when winter arrives, I can always buy a Magic Mary for the front and run the HD's on the rear!

A lot of Schwalbe tyres have had this problem with cracking - had it on my HD's too. However, none of them actually came away so it was fine.
Currently got the MM and Nobby Nic (2.35)combo on the Chief and DHF Minion/Ardent(2.25) on the Bird - both excellent combo's, imo.

this thread could go on forever, tyre choice is very subjective. I`ve currently still got the winter choice on,hans front and rear.last summer I ran ardent rear with minion front and found them a good combo till things got a bit muddy and had zero grip on the back.when I had the cotic I was running onza ibex f and r and would deffo use them again. horses for courses Rodney..............

Did i just get the wrong Hans Dampf? Mine is 2.35 and shit in the mud. Has washed out on me and put me down and several other times been close to. In the dry it's ok. Which makes me wonder why people use it as a winter tyre. Couldn't wait to get Hans Damph off my bike.. For the reasons you said!

Run them at 27 rear, 25 front and they are quite good...albeit more draggy...
