Still up in the air for Thursday ..but it's not looking good . Currently nursing a heavy head cold and throat which started yesterday (can't think of the last time I had one )..but that isn't the main "problem". My boy starts senior school after summer and there are a number of meetings scheduled for this week involving pupils & parents one such meeting is on Thursday which I'm expected to attend with the missus . There is also a teachers strike planned for this coming week which may throw everything up in the air ...things won't become any clearer until the school(s) have been contacted tomorrow .. so will let you know as soon as I can..

Not to worry Hodgy if it doesn't come off - sure there'll be other times.

I will not bore you with the logistics ...but I'm not able to make this now .. Just to add to my woes my car won't start for the second morning running and needs to be taken to a garage ... You will have a great time there Pez ..and you are bound to return ..catch you then.. Now to break the news to Graham & Colin who were interested ....

Shame that is and yes - it's Jay's second time up there, he really rates it and for him to want to go again, on such a long drive, tells me it will be worthwhile - looking forward to it and hoping the glass back holds up.

I'll be in the Lakes on the 24th or 26th of August and planning to do Whinlatter at least! To be fair, I'll be going there every month and planning to get to know the Lakes magic rides soon! If anyone fancies, vive me a shout!

Is it better than Degla guys? If so why? Did you do the north or south loop? Red, Black? I'm looking forward to go there...

We did the North & South loops aswell as the blue route. All very entertaining!
There are no black options to speak of, or at least I didn't see any..
For me, I love Whinlatter but it's over 3hrs away so, Degla remains top of the pile!

Ride wise - I'd find it hard to split em but I'd probably just shade Whin over Degla - but of course that might be that I've done Degla loads of times and that was first Whinlatter visit. I found Whinlatter to be just a barrel of fun - I even enjoyed the climbs! (sort of) very little fire road involved - which I hate as it's soul destroying - and mostly switchback climbing with techy rocks and roots to pop over, so never boring. And the descents, when they started , were just an absolute blast. especially North loop, which throws you down the side of a valley in big, bermy loops with a stunning view to your left. Awesome and I was grinning like a loon at the bottom - plenty of chances to get those wheels airborne too. I also loved the set up, good caff and visitors area, great being sat out in the sun chilling with a cup of Rosy Lea and cake. I also loved that the trails were both roughly set up the same - ie - you do all the climbing at the start - then all the descending after that - effort=reward. Even the Blue was bloody good I be back!

Couple of piccies from the day - we had a right giggle, taking the piss amid the great trails. It's what it's all about for me - it's about fun, not strava or suffer scores. Beansy has more and better piccies than me. short stop on the 4 hour drive! Dear old pals, jolly old pals! Chris, slowly dying, with Jay 'I'm all heart, me' Aston being 'sympathetic' Chris, ok - he's dead, but he made it to the top. Me, top of south loop The trusty old Chief - never let's me down, bless her. That's all folks!

I'm still trying to understand why the hell they give you salad with a bacon and sausage roll... It's called 'healthy food' beansy, it's a concept I'll have to explain to you one day, if you can stop shovelling pizzas down your neck for a few seconds to listen.
