Were you wearing knee guards? I had them with me but left them in the van to keep them safe and dry.. ...I'll keep quiet!

Nah.. you're both right I deserve the cuffing. I did leave them off because they are heavy and can chafe when wet.. Reading the lightweight pads thread now. Moments before I hit the deck as I was coming over some proper sharp rocks I did tell myself "remember, no pads on"... But my specs were wet and misted, it was quite dark under trees and I saw what looked like a wider higher outside line round the lefthander, then never knew what hit me as the front went. The greasy rocky surface was just about level with the trail, and no real big sharp edges to see. Apart from the little one which punched it's way in just below the kneecap. Still it was a shame I didn't hear Dave in front shouting "...watch it, slippery corner.."

Ok then...I don't actually know you and I apologise but...WTF??? That was extremely stupid and I'm sure you know it!? If you had the pads you would probably be fine now!? Lesson learnt the hard way I guess...surprised Neil let you on his ride without them actually! Lol
Not sure those lightweight pads actually protected the knees that much, except from scuffs, scratches, etc, but not saving a proper injury to the knee. FYI, yesterday I realised my TLD pads really stank and I washed in the washing machine with cold water...they are as new! Previously I only used to hose them down. Spot on.

Hey G...I know you were only joking ..but I'm not his dad ! Just an unfortunate error really ..I've done it myself and in hindsight and all that .. By the way it's not " my " ride ..sure I come up with suggestions based on where I have been before ..but equally any of the group could suggest a ride ..everyone of them have loads of experience and are well travelled ...I just have more time to do so based on the fact that I work from home ... Look out for the return trip ..you would love this ride and there was a lot of class sections not ridden yesterday given the deteriorating weather...

I lost the rear wheel on said rock and don't know how I didn't come off, sorry I didn't shout louder Graham. I'm always not putting my pads on especially my elbow ones so your not alone. I didn't have my elbows on yesterday but nobody noticed ;-)

I don't actually know you either but I do know now that you obviously like the sound of your own voice! Get over telling people off when it's obvious they know it. Who is interested in your opinion anyway?

Cheers Hodgy for an excellent route (can we go back and do the whole lot soon ), don't know what it was yesterday bur seemed despite the weather everyone was really enjoying it, a bit of Dunkirk spirit me thinks, bad luck for Graham, and another costly ride for me , rear mech buggered and my phone has drowned beyond repair, ordered a new mech and a pair of chin link pliers (cheers Gaz without yours I think I would of had a long walk ) the roads were pretty bad when I went home Neil so god knows how you got through, a memorable ride for many reasons , I hope to ride round Ullswater way next Saturday if I can get my bike fixed if anyone fancies it, oh aye , hope your sought has come back Dave cheers everyone

Not sure yet John ...there are a few things bubbling away in the background for September but I will try to give plenty of notice .. The two Saturday's I can't do are the 3rd ( Marshalling at the Kielder 101) and the 24th ..that's my better half's birthday . Given that the route directions are posted if anyone wants to organise something themselves then I won't be "put out " ..and will try to make it !
