Gears all ready but I'm Still feeling a bit lousy, muzzy head and sore throat but early night and I'll give it a go in the morning. If you were a dog they would have had you put down by now!! I'm the absence of marmite somebody need to play I'm not very fit at the moment card. Seriously after 7 or 8 months on the same prescription I think it's time to change my medicine as my reflux problem seems to be back with a vengeance maybe just irritated by a bit of cold. If it doesn't pass I'll have to pay the doc a visit.

Today was one of those days when I really appreciated what this forum is all about .. A great day out with folks who I didn't know 2 years ago ..but with a shared passion for mountain biking have now in the case of Glynn & John shared a number of great days out and in the case of Super G ( the bloke was so obviously riding well within what he is capable of ) ..have just met...but each of them totally laid back and with a great sense of humour . I'm not forgetting Nick who I've known in mountain biking terms " forever " and have shared many great rides ... Thanks to all for a great day ..thoroughly enjoyed . Although John had a couple of off's this morning ...Gonzalo having one too ..the main casualty of the day was Nick who has injured hand , knee & elbow ..actually got some sympathy from his missus by text on the way home ( so is going to lay it on thick when he gets back !) . He would also like to extend his thanks for all the patience & help he received ...especially this morning . I will post some pics up ..once I have purchased some additional storage from photobucket ..apparently I have reached the limit of my free allocation! But for now huge thanks for a fantastic day ..

Neil...really nice to meet you too today and what a great day it was...weather couldn't be better. Hope Nick doesn't get too sore tomorrow...those slabs are lethal, really slippery...very different to the Peaks...my own fault for going way too fast on trails I've never been on and as soon as my front wheel touched those slanted slabs...off...tried to catch it, put my foot down and of course...off it went. Luckily didn't hurt myself too much except for the pedal strike on my shin. Good journey back with Glynn Hamilton who was going over 90 at some stages...wild!? Will post photos ASAP

Thanks to Neil to for a cracking route around this beautiful part of the country. Also well done to Hodgy and Glynn for being the only guys not to have an off. Disclaimer, all the offs were due to extremely slippy rocks or in my case section of board walk that I totally ignored the advice of another rider who said they so slippery and treacherous. After the first bit felt right I really hammered through the rest and came a cropper at a point where there was a change of direction as my bike didn't and the front wheel totally washed out putti the bike in a ditch and me flying over the bars on to the other side of the Board walk but avoided taking a swim, Nic coped really well with being restricted to only three working cogs, fortunately the biggest cogs, also handled the rocky descents with gray skill on his hard tail up until taking a tumble on one of the most innoccuos sections. Some fab descents along with the usual nasty climbs. Great scenery, good banter. I can't believe the g man made it to the top of that long steep cobbled climb, I struggled pushing up it, so damn slippery and steep. Well done g I don't think I'll ever see another none ebike rider make it up there . I felt a bit knackered today through out really but extra wilped out now, Garmin says 24 miles and 3950ft climbing. Speaking of scenery I only managed to get one photo as g was punching all of the best photo opportunities for pictures of his own bike. He does like a photo. I think between Glynn and gonzalo they will have some cracking photos. For now here is my only one.

great ride today, great company again. beautiful day in the lakes. some powerful climbing by gonzalo. me not falling off all day while others are tumbling like a pack of cards....now that makes a refreshing change. hope nick recovers from his injuries quickly. it made me think again today that elbow pads are as essential as knee pads.....thanks everyone for another excellent day! photos will follow but looks like gonzalo has took some brill pics. BTW roundie, i got your facebook message but we were well on our way when you sent it so didnt see it till i got home. pity you couldnt make it today.

Just been reading back over the posts and just realised that my estimate for total mileage was pretty spot on ..which pleased me as that was done purely from looking at the map and counting the grid lines it passes over ( apparently every time it crosses a line ..that's counted as 1 km ) What really surprised me was the total climbing ..there must have been a hell of a lot in the last part of the ride as Gaz's figures from 20.8.16 were only coming in at 1200ft ..so to the local crew who are due to revisit on a Saturday at some point in the near future ..keep something in your legs ! On a personal point ..yesterday was extremely humid and as usual I didn't take nearly enough fluid on board to the extent that my weight even after a fairly hefty meal and lots of drink last night was the lowest it has been for at least the last 10 years..13st 8.6...result ! Really looking forward to your pics G & G..still to upgrade my photobucket ..so mine to follow later in the day .

It's good ....but I think there's better to come from yesterday ..no disrespect to John though! Edit : I'm not including mine in the above statement !

im sure there is, I actually had a coupel of better ones in that same spot but my photobucket was running too slow. I know G and Glynn have enough shots to feed the banner comp for the rest of the year, no pressure lads!
Re the ascent from my strava could be wrong, however because I think its over egged it I haven't actually asked it to recalculate, but doing a quick assessment of the climbing profile and totting it up mentally I think it would be nearer to 2600./2800ft.

Well here are my pics ..not too many taken yesterday ... G on the shore of Lake Windemere .. Same spot ..same shot ..plus Glynn Some Torridonian style slabs at Eccles Tarn .G & Kirky Over the other side of that slab ...Eccles Tarn Glynn & Nick Of course it wasn't long before the grippiness of those slabs were put to the test ..Kirky first ..then Glynn..with G doing the best impersonation I have seen of Eric Morecambe in a long while ... That's all folks ..but with better to come I'm sure..
