Started off on SPD's and only really in the last year or so gone over to flats. Think it says everything that I'm in the process of selling my clipless shoes and last pair of SPD pedals. I've found since changing I am taking on bigger stuff with more confidence than before, I love the freedom to be able to move your feet about and therefore your body around the bike, my cornering has improved lots and lots since dumping the SPD's, the only thing that was better was the climbing - and I don't care about that! Took a while to crack the technique but now my feet hardly ever slip off the pedals. Thanks guys... Its opinions like these, based on experience that i like to hear... I have to admit...i don't think i take advantage of the spa's when climbing, since i hardly ever pull anyway...on some technical sections, rocky, etc, when you go slow it somehow makes me a bit nervous because I'm always thinking if i don't unclip in time i will fall, and sometimes fall over steep bits (Glynn knows what i mean)...the only thing really is about when you come down fast...when sometimes i accidentally get unclipped it is not a good feeling, but i guess if its like what people say, a good combo of pedals and shoes will help, this seems a good option. I used to ride scramblers, and the ability to take a foot down on bends, etc, always helps and makes it more fun i guess!? Looks like people don't regret going from spd's to flats generally...of course for the commuter i would still keep the spd's! I already have shin and knee pads anyway. I need to sleep over the matter... (those Vault's and Burgtec's look sweet to be fair?!)

I use the Moove pedals, with the Teva links - rock solid combo. However, as Gaz says, Tevas have jacked it - I'll probably look at the Spesh flatties next as I'm a bit reluctant to be a 5-10 sheep (as good as they obviously are) but I'm in no rush - these Tevas are bloody bombproof and for 45 quid....what a bloody shame they've stopped making them am i the only numpty (some would also say they) who rides spd's? Not trying to start one of those debates, flats vs spd's or trying to prove which is best... Just, would like to know if there is anyone else here who actually rides spd's as well?! Ideally would like to hear from anyone who rides/rode both and their thoughts?! I do think sometimes, on slow techy sections spd's are not ideal and the ability to put a leg down on bends etc reminds me of the old days on the motorbikes...

I couldn't imagine wheelie/manual-ing being clipped in. The superstar nano tech pedals are hard to beat for grip and price. The saints aren't all that. People really rate the DMR Vaults. People tend to really rate well the stuff they have. You've got to get something shiny for that bike I've personally got the superstar delta mag. Not as grippy i think as the nano tech, because of shorter pins, but super light pedals and they grip more than most i've been on. Not ridden 5-10's as they needed to size up so i sent them back. Everyone really rates them. But like i said, i doubt people would buy £100 trainers and say they're only as good as £25 skate pumps I ride Teva Links (superb!) but no longer available and some Duffs. Also great for £20. I'll be getting some 2FO's next to give them a shot. shit...some really nice flat pedals around...lol... decisions, decisions...what if i try and then i don't like it!? a lot of money to throw away...

Where exactly is this's do how far from Sheffield? Unless of course Glynn wants/can have a tag along!? But I could potentially do this!? yes mate i meant which riding route up the mountain. id be happy to share the journey if you fancy it, but it'll be a steady 70mph with me, as opposed to mad 100mph dash me...100mph?! when you have someone to speak too, it makes the journey a lot better...i should be able to make it. we could also share the expense on fuel of course.

I do have to admit that I think it would make somethings easier for me...and I don't actually use the benefits of the pull tbh...not saying I will but, which flat pedal and shoes combo you guys reccomend?

Why is CK better than Hope? Rumour has it that the bearings are better but Probably isn't any better. Except on the warranty which you get 3 or 5 with CK! Only went with CK because I saved a considerable amount buying from US and it matched the headset!...and beans on toast was my little devil!

So...I was there at Lidl 10 minutes before opening...shadow boxing and warming up, ready for a scrap! However no one came and I was the first in...loads of workstands! LOL... I've just put it up and...I CANT BELIEVE HOW GOOD IT IS! 25 quid for all that!?!? It's well put together, really stable, heavy and robust...it even has a magnetic tray which is a great add on! With 3 year warranty! It's a no-brainer really! Also got the wife one of those helmets which are also great value for money, specially for the amount of time she actually rides...the integrate light is a great feature.

I have started to consider flats...sometimes SPD's make me too nervous on slow technical places...but then when you come down, I like the security it gives!?

If you set the sat nav for 'The Fisheries' that is just opposite the Degla entrance, if you set it for the trail centre for some reason you end up at a farm 2 miles down the road!! Think it's 4 quid parking. The sat nav on my car is a bit sh1t tbh...it's either a full postcode or a road name. Which address shall I use?

I was quite annoyed that the CK is considerably more expensive than the Hope to start with...and then you need to pay an extra 15 quid for a conversion kit which is no more than 2 spacers!?

I'm in for sure...don't really know where I'm going tho! Sat nav will hopefully take me to a car park and then we can meet at some obvious point! How much for parking? Can't wait (even though my back is killing me at the moment but hopefully by then it will be better)

Hope or Uberbike (you can usually get 10% off codes from the web if you search but they also sell via Ebay)...held them on my hand the other day on their shop and they look like a quality piece of kit...ceramic one is a great price when compared to others.

A few images of the Hex (quite a cool name btw) at Burbage Edge this morning...and cables are not perfect still but will stay to stay that way now! 20 min into the run and the dropper cable came off with the saddle half-way! Rotor was also not set right on the rear wheel and was always catching, squeaking and annoying me! One of those days that everything seems to go wrong! Hopefully all sorted now...Added the shock volume spacer which does help quite a lot! A very easy and intelligent solution. However I still think both the fork and shock have too many tuning options which I'm not sure I can really feel the difference. Best component is by far the Fabric Scoop Radius Ti Saddle...and the comfort of a FS is a delight!
