so it turns out they didnt clean it, nowhere near apparently but it seems from the article that they did ride all of it but only in sections. i say only, but all of it is a real tough challenge to ride in sections never mind all in one go. 3 riders one with +size hardtail, one a surly fatbike and the other an e-bike. the e-bike rider didnt get much of a mention apart from it was a breeze for him.

just got this months singletrack mag. theres another article about nick craig having a go at cleaning jacobs ladder upwards. havnt got a clue how it turns out but i'll bet he doesnt do it. he;s supposed to have cleaned it several years ago (debatable) but hes older and jacobs is more washed away than it used to be. still it'll be an interesting read.

have they glazed over? if so try roughing them up by laying a sheet of course emery paper or glass paper on a flat surface and rubbing the pads till they roughen.

right so wednesday's weather is forecast to be fairly ace. anyone up for a ride? seeing as though last week's macc. forest or wharncliffe ride got put off by myself, next week would be good to make the most of these dry conditions before the rains come. its as dry as a bone out there and iv not ridden enough lately

contact switch SL arrived today and is fitted. looks and feels good, much better than the first version i bought which was troublesome from the start for a few reasons. the only servicing that can be done is a clean and wipe of the top wiper seal. dont know if thats going to be a good thing or not. i had a strange issue with the first one a few years ago. i was constantly adjusting and readjusting the cable at the actuator end. i then changed the headset as it was knackered, and with the new headset in, i could hear air being forced in and out when the seatpost was actuatored.it was coming from the headset as tho there was displaced air in the bike frame needing to go somewhere and the headset was the only way. i removed a bottle cage screw that wasnt serving any purpose and it cured the symptom and the dropper started working much better.the air had somewhere to be drawn in and out............odd one that!

you dont have to go full on if you dont want to john. theres plenty of other stuff, more of a xc type ride but with some techy natural stuff included. im hoping to go next week if it stays dry. its not a big place but you still know about it with it being steep, or you could always do an extra loop. iv not been for 2 years so gonzalo might know some bits that iv not done.
