I was just checking the new Home to see if we could take this over there along with the Wales trip as its happening so far down the line we wont be wanting to check back in here. However theres no place to list the forum rides just yet.
In the mean time I think we should plump for a date of the 18th December. put a poll up to vote where once the new place is up and running.

I'd suggest we book some digs in the middle somewhere for towards the end of April but not the easter school holidays. Book it over the next few weeks.
Then we can judge the weather near to the time and choose the order of which one first around the weather (wind strength). That way we have at least a degree of wiggle room rather then fixing only one date and tackling it despite the weather.

Oh forgot to mention, I have what feels like a torn hamstring at the moment, did a spin class last night and it's due to mega fast spinning without pushing any real tension, you can feel a kind of snap back. Felt okay after a brief stretch afterwards but when walking down the stairs it felt like my lower leg had been severed. gay Ken the instructor reckons the muscle around there is probably knotted up and to split hot water. Hot bath, hot water bottle underneath all night and it felt a bit better. 5 hours driving today and 8 hours behind a desk and it feels fucked again.
Sat with the hot water bottle under again.
I've had it to a lesser degree before and it goes after a couple of days normally so hoping to be shifted by the weekend.

Regarding later in the month, let me know nearer the time, dependant on having to do the school run (if I'm not working that is)dictates if I need to do a morning start or not, if I have the full day could meet somewhere else.
See if you want to return to Gisburn again after Sunday anyway.
Passing from the lakes, not ruling out meeting at whinlatter or doing something around the lakes, I can show you some good bits around Rivington which is a short detour from the m61 around Chorley or 'm6 standish way.

If you are travelling there with your work mates I would do that for some company and so you find it okay.
If you let me know the time and meet up i may tag on if you don't think they will mind, earlier the better for me.
I'm happy to go with the flow but if they don't know it to well I can recommend the best way to go about it.
Sunday should be dry but make sure you have waterproofs as you'll be splashing through a lot of standing water, gisburn doesn't drain very well, or at least the water seems to hold almost perpetually in certain places.

Snowden, unch 40 minutes to Cyb. Recovered, lap of the mbuk. Digs and evening meal. There's supposed to be lots of good quality bike friendly bunk houses or chalet type accomadations near Cyb.
Early start the next morning head to cadair iris, which is further into Wales so a longer drive back when finished. Up down, lunch and home before the rush hour traffic.
Mid week none school holiday may best for avoiding walkers and cheaper digs and less traffic.

Yes cyb is handy in between but I didn't want to suggest another 20 miles or so.
Maybe an afternoons uplift at antur stiniog then you don't need as much pedalling.

I think all that attended the Xmas ride last December would agree it was a cracking day and we had an excellent turn out (mainly thanks to Marmites organising and Facebook plugging).
Is it about time to test who may be up for it and take a poll of where and when. A trail centre is a good shout as it offers up better bad weather possibilities.
Last year was obviously Gisburn and we had visitors from a few hours north and south, Im happy to do the same again if its convenient for most or would suggest Llandegla.
If somebody could add a vote thingy then we could narrow down a venue and then choose a date?
Any suggestions, offers of help.

Its quite a tough two days dragging ones self up two large hills, however I would defo consider it nearer to next spring, have to do by end of April yeh to beat the Snowdon ban.
Would be a good idea to head towards Dogleau area and stay around there so handy for Cadir Idris, more to do and better choice of dwellings than Llanberis area.

Grips are okay if a little on the thin side.
Saddle is not that comfy so far. There's not much padding on it, hopefully it may improve or my arse will get use to it. If I struggle with it then I will replace it with a fabric scoop.
I changed the front tyre too a 2.5 shorty mid week ready for the gloop, Yu can kind of feel the knobblies on the hard pack trails though.

How are you getting on with the bike John ? Likey? It's a good fit, seems fast when it's flowy, nice and light and pedals okay or as good as I can uphill. however it seems to rattle a fair bit and I havent figured out the shock yet, if anything my fettling has made it worse. I'll figure it out.

Was supposed to be a nice day today but it didn't pan out that way. Got over to Bacup and dropped the kids off with granny for a few hours while I visited lee quarry which is near by. Greeted with "it's been snowing this morning". Once I got up there it was bit wet in places but no snow to be seen although once up towards the crags the puddles were frozen and I was also heading that way. Bloody cold, it was two degrees when I parked up so guess near to or freezing up on the tops. Strong winds spoiled the craggy and I saw sense and missed out the more treacherous stair cases and stuck to mostly the red sections. The last bike park style section has been repaired to a degree where it was affected by the land slip. Moto crossers were out in force today, I saw more motor bikes than mountain bikes which may be a sign of the future as the centre is no longer supported or policed too any degree. Signs of erosion here and there already may make it more interesting in the short to mid term but it may go to far and totally ruin the place. Handy as its close to my parents so can drop them off and have a quick blast whilst the Mrs is working weekends so at least I get out, other than I don't think I will revisit in a hurry. Too cold for too many stoppages just the one snack stop so only hog my phone at once.

I haven't visited for a very long time despite it being pretty close so thought I should visit before it becomes derelict.
Not everybodys cup of tea but many that have a negative experience didn't really know how to connect the two sites or get the most of the trails so do a few circles and head home.
good for all conditions, looking at doing around 16/18 miles with all of the fun stuff, quarry red and butch clenching blacks (if it isn't too windy) and head up for the long roller coaster of the crags followed by the fantastic blast back down.
If any body fancies it, I will be there for 11.30am. let me know and ill tell you a meet point as I prefer not park at the trail head.

The right side option, has slightly bigger jumps and is generally a big rougher. There s big gap jump towards the end. Both of these have an optional gap jump qualifier and a large drop to start with as a qualifier, so yo can crash there and save it doing with too much speed further down.

Got ya, I think some people do refer to a steep decline as a drop, I always think it's a chute and a drop means literally that your wheels are connected eg a drop off.
It's always steeper in real life than on film.
I think you would like the hope line at Gisburn, probably hully bulky, downhill part of home baked, swoops fun and the rest maybe a bit boring for you as its all rooty rocky climbing or small downs and ups.
There are two full on down hill lines. You might like them but too many gap jumps for me, I don't like the of the landing wall.
