Hello,
Ive been doing some research on the internet at various skills courses.
One area I find daunting when im riding is Jumps or Air Time.
I can do some drops that ive ridden before etc but when I get in the air or see something that looks a little big I lose alot of confidence.
Sometimes I feel stable in the air... sometimes i dont and the bike gets unsettled etc (moves to one side,Tilts or doesnt land smooth or evenly)
I noticed they do a Jumps and drops course for 20 quid at chase skills and im considering it for a few hours professional coaching to make my riding more enjoyable.
Where i am now im near Tidworth free ride park. Had a ride there yesterday on the easier graded courses after a few runs I was gaining more confidence. I know it all comes with practice etc. Just find myself tensing up so to speak and getting unsettled on anything i think looks risky as such. Abit of poo come out when i landed dodgy and nearly ended up in a tree though haha
Sorry for waffling on,
Phil

I've heard of them but never used them! They do downhill courses run at either Stile Cop or Ribbesford bike park. Was considering doing one myself. I think professional tuition could be useful but, if it's confidence you lack, they can't teach that. I recently started jumping and decided to bite the bullet and go for it on the last jump of the black course at Stile Cop. Click for mega extreme videNot amazing but I'm made up that I did it.

I see what you saying abount not teaching confidence. Ill just have to get out there and get practising to gain more confidence I guess. The tuition would help me with body position etc though. Nice vid mate... I saw that jump/drop there and didnt want to try it incase i injured myself as i had a busy weekend planned . looks pretty cheeky. I bet the run up view is pretty daunting. The next time ill be about over the week is through december. It may be abit damp then unless we get a dry day

I only say weekday because Stile Cop gets very busy at weekends.
Riding the rest of the Chase is fine at weekends though!
I'll see if I can round a few up and sort a ride out!

Nice video. I really enjoyed the red run. We tend to go on week days and the place is empty, not a person in site! We had a good look around and some of the stuff there scares me to death. I'll definitely be spending a lot more time there now I've got the taste for it! It's only 5 minutes up the road too

He's right (iride) they can't teach confidence that's down to the individual - and I've got none when it comes to jumping. A coaching course would help though but I need to get out there and do some stuff myself too - I'm not talking mega jumps just even little ones would do me. At 52 I ain't looking to appear on red bull rampage.

I sent them an email earlier today asking about it.
Its a 20 quid course so if it helps it will be money well spent

If you hear from them and fancy a bit of company on the course, I'd be game! Maybe they'll teach me how not to land on my face

If the dates right and it's ok with you I'd join you. Sounds like it'd be a bit of fun.

Haha..
I'll have a brown star if they expect anything more than 2 inches of 'air'.
I think it'd be fun. Bit of a ride afterwards, pub, jobs a good-un.

He only drinks vimto so its ok. If this course is at Stile Cop can we insist on uplift? Or is the training that good they'll tell us at the top and by the time we reach the bottom we'll have it dialled 'cos I'm not relishing the bike push thing!!
