anyone up for a ride this coming Wednesday or Friday. im looking at doing quite a long ride in preparation for a walna scar ride in 2 weeks. im open to suggestions. im even considering a ladybower double loop of the waters edge track if this snow and ice hasn't cleared on the hills

Geographically ..I can't do this ..but I'm interested in knowing which way you are doing Walna Scar ? I've tackled it twice ..Seathwaite being the bastard of a climb with a techy drop ..which may have been sanitised in recent times ? In case you were looking for someone to do this with you ..I'm ill that day !

Glynn..that's pretty much the full Monty ! I've been on all of those trails ..but usually as shorter rides than the one you are tackling ! There is some serious climbing there..and the climb up onto Walna Scar road itself is a true bastard ..if you are human you will end up pushing ! By the same degree you also have some awesome technical drops ...a fantastic ride but you will need to be on top of your game fitness wise ! The last time we did it we only started in Torver ..so only about half of what you are doing and we were well cream crackered at the end ! By the way that file was ace ..I was able to overlay straight onto my O.S map using View Ranger

Looks cold mate great pics again was a bit milder today than it has been for a while. but I heard today that some parts of houndkirk had 6ft drifts when it snowed. we need 15 deg c and a bit of rain to shift it quick

yes that was a tough ride today. beautiful day tho. I managed to do the whole 30 miles without using a bailout option. seven hours of riding, 5500ft of climbing. and hodgy the push up walna scar road was orrible, I also didn't enjoy the descent either till part way down when I got the feeling back in me hands, it was a case of just hanging on till then. parkamoor was excellent with some ace descents................heres some pics, I wanted to take so many more but was enjoying the flow too much to stop

I'll second what Gaz said ..it's a big achievement ..and pleased you did the lot and enjoyed it . That push up Walna Scar is a real bastard..but all you can do is grin and bear it ..that pic doesn't really tell the story of the gradient and length...and the fact that it comes late in the ride! Glad you had a good day for it too ..makes a huge difference when you can actually see that stunning scenery.

cheers lads, yeah everytime I visit the lakes im struck by its beauty. it makes the 6 hour round trip all worth it. this one shows the walna scar push a bit more but it was still only taken half way up when you've reached the stone wall. the others are natty bridge (I think that's its name) and the top of the descent from natty bridge
