He's back in, chomping on his hay. You bunch of bastards, I'd just persuaded myself I wasn't going to be a sheep by having an Evo when you lot start sticking yer noses up at em. TBH, I would bloody love a Stanton, not just for the exclusivity (though I freely admit to being a feckin snob) but just the pure looks of the thing and the fact I'd love to try steel. Unfortunately I ain't got the 2 grand free. The bird looks like an alternative, I just hadn't heard much about the brand. You bunch of hoof wanking thunder chunts.

The Zero gets some good reviews. Ben also seems like a decent bloke and a real enthusiast. If I was in the market for a £1k hard tail it would be on my list. They're on a couple of C2W schemes too (inc. Our works one...). Could be tempted if I don't go for a full bouncer later this year.
Couple of guys on BikeRadar have Zeros and seem to say good things about them.
I did think of asking Ben if he'd thought of running a demo day on the Chase.

Cheers Dirk - they are from Swinley and you can book a demo ride. I am waiting a reply from an email to see if they accept the C2W scheme our works do. If they do, I'm seriously tempted.

I like them, I looked at them before I bought my c456 evo but the evo won What swung it for you Midge? the specs on the Bird are bloody good - though the Evo is obvs the more tried and tested performer. Got to admit, looks alone, the Bird wins for me (even though I love the looks of the Evo) From what reviews I saw I couldn't see a reason not to go with the bird apart from cost, cheaper to build the evo then the zero. Get a slackline frame and use your c2w scheme to build it.

Didn't think you could use c2w for parts?

Not 'officially'. Some LBS are willing to ahem...shuffle the books so to speak but officially, it's supposed to be for a full bike. I had the option from my LBS to just have parts - all very much off the record of course, but I changed my mind in the end.

Hang on!! I thought I was the only one on here not wanting to be a sheep! In fact, I got bollocked for even saying it. So now, even though On-One make great bikes, no one wants one because they are 'common'? *struggles to get hat on* Anyway - shurrup you fickle feckers, what about Bird bikes? I'm in consultation with them about a Zero.1 - and I know Cotic and Stanton are the 'cool' brands but I haven't got 2 grand to spend on a HT. If your referring to the phone debate they are completely different lol, everyone has an iPhone because they are the best phone (there also the most expensive) Everyone has an on-one because they are pretty decent but are also very cheap

- and I know Cotic and Stanton are the 'cool' brands but I haven't got 2 grand to spend on a HT. So you are going to make do with a bird when you really want something else. Well it will go pear shaped I tell you, if you get the bird you will enjoy it for bit but then think....hmmmm I fancy a stanton/456 etc. Save your pennies to get what you WANT not what you can afford, it will be cheaper in the long run when you are not offloading a hardly used 12 month old bird to buy your stanton. whats wrong with the merida is it not an alu frame, so go for something different. Here endeth my wisdom.

Fair point Andy. I've been dissuaded from revamping the Merida. Yes I would love a Stanton, but by the time I save the pennies for that I'll be in a bath chair! It's between the Evo and the Bird, although if Bird don't accept my works particular C2W - it's the On One.....BAAAAAAAAAA!

Loads - but the only money I have is through the C2w scheme mate - I can perhaps add 2-300 on top of that (if the bike dealer is willing to play ball) which is why I was looking at the Bird Zero.1 (£1300).
I'd love it to be different, but it ain't. I should still get a bloody good HT for a grand tbh, but you know what it's like - ever since someone posted up a piccie of the slackline it's turned the head a bit. Oh well, lottery might turn up I suppose!
I'd be very happy with the Evo, it's a cracking bike, but we all have dreams eh.

Yep, I hear you. Got my cube on the c2w scheme here in ireland, and have an other 2 years to wait untill I can go again, for a full susser. In the mean time I am trying to figure out how I can get a 456 past the missus ( but really want a stanton). I reckon my best bet, but dearer in the long run, is to get a frame and buy bits as I get spare cash.

Not made out of steel but a cracking go anywhere bike all the same, you'd even have spare change to buy bits for the chief if you bought this!!!!!

Buy a frame and swap the bits form one of your many bikes onto it , you've got to try steel and once you have you won't go back (i'm biased as I have a Cotic ), don't need multiple bikes once you get a decent steel ht , it'll do everything .

I agree with you. They are as common as pig turd but they make great frames. They're brilliant value for money too. Having said that, I probably wouldn't buy another due to every Tom, Dick and Harry having one. On One used to be a little bit exclusive and differen.... Not any more That's probabaly why I'm not a fan, there 456 is probabaly exactly the same as cotics soul, but because the soul is more expensive and less people have it I want one of those more Although saying that I am tempted by there latest email, £224 for 4560b frame, headset, stem, bars, grips, seatpost, clamp, saddle

I've had a few Cotics now... I've had a lot of On-Ones... Cotic have become very common, and rightly so!... On-one no longer does it for me!... I like to be niche! And preferably British... With the specs and warranty, and value for money. I can't see Bird being Beaten!.... I'd like a few more colour options personally... But still Id happily have either colour... And more than likely have one this year!..
