I'm looking at doing a much needed skills course and a provider has been recommended to me, Trailmotions (Anthony Laycy), they run one to one and group bookings and charge by the day (currently £125 for a day) up to 4, running from 930 to 3pm. £125 is a bit steep for only myself so wondered if any body else fancied joining the session, ideally 2 or 3 would be perfect, getting the cost to £42 each.
He normally operates out of the Lakes or Gisburn Forest, but as its our group only we could more or less pick a suitable venue that suits.
Personally I'm looking at better pumping of the trail, finding more speed, more confidence over larger drops and jumps, technical steep chutes, that type of thing to stand me better stead for some upcoming events and increase my chance of surviving them.
Anthonys suggesting some days next week after he returns from a trip but I'm looking at the next three weeks (bit of a long shot) or more realistically beginning or end June or July.
If anybody is interested in forming a small group 3 or 4 for a days skills coaching somewhere Northern based please PM me and we can sort something out.

Nice one Gaz, is this the guy that you mentioned a few weeks back?
I will let you know what dates he can do when he comes back to me, I take it you'll be happy with Gisburn as the venue, Ive stumbled across some clips of his training sessions there on his facebook page and youtube.
Ps I thought you were away at the moment???

He'll teach you how to avoid trees on steep decents mate lol Yeh I know lol, that kind of reminded me that I'm shit and need to get better.
My things to get from the day list reads.
Learning to brake on steep rutted hills Stop me hitting trees Manual bunny hop handle large drops more confidence on jumps. Cornering finding the elusive flow. Becoming a riding god! Hardest of all, get as fast as that fecking Chopper!

Hahaha, you might just struggle with that last bit, he's got a motor hidden in that bike somewhere! In all seriousness, I done a half days private tuition at Glentress and by the end of it my head was bursting with all the information id taken on board, just watch you don't over do your day or you'll start forgetting stuff.

I could be interested in joining you. Are you looking at week day or weekend? I'm thinking of either but it depends what he comes back with. A weekend maybe easier to organise between a few of us interested parties however the downside is somewhere like gisburn would be very busy. I'll keep you posted when he gets back to me. Out I interest would you be looking at working at similar things to myself? I'm sure he'll make an assessment but it will probably help to get more out of it if he's teaching us all the same skills.

Are you set on these guys? If not Id strongly recommend ewan from trailhum, rode with him a few times on a social basis. I've met a lot of people who claim to be coaches, but he definitely impressed me with his knowledge and the clarity of his explanations, these were just off hand comments to people along the ride too.
I'm definitely going to sort out some tuition with him at some point, without sounding like too much of a twat, I have most of the techniques down and I don't think there are any more big steps for me to take, but listening to his explanations as to how and why you should do things, even the fundamental stuff is really eye opening. Found myself listening in and thinking 'ah yeah I do do that don't I?' and then when you're conscious of the minor details of body position, technique, etc, you can exaggerate or control them much better.
Waffley reply, but worth considering, some of my mates have done sessions with Ed Oxley and that jedi guy, they still rate him over those 2. Operates around the lakes mainly.

Right guys, I've just heard back and Anthony can do the 6th or 7th June which works for me and is a week before my first ever Enduro event so might help me survive unscathed.
Can you let me know if these dates work and of a preference, to be honest I would edge towards the 6th personally.
Venue can be Gisburn forest or Grizedale. For convenience I think Gisburn may be easier and also theres a few bits there which I would like to session and gain confidence on, having not ridden Grizedale I cant really comment. He said both are good for training Enduro type skills, flow, drop and jumps.
Let me know so I can confirm.

Gisburn works for me. Either date should be fine also. Friday means a day off work but trails should be quieter than a Saturday.

I had to check my calendar again there, the 6th is a Saturday mate, 7th the Sunday.
The car park often makes the place look busy but with lots of families visiting the trails often aren't as busy as you may think, I was there last Saturday from 9.30 and other than Ed oxleys sklills groups on the first section we didn't really come across to many on the trails, just one other group on Home baked and that was it I think.
Matt I will mark you down as okay for either day.

Hi Jonny. I sent a couple of PMs to see how you got on with booking the required date off. Can you please update me if either way if you can or cant make it so I can ask around for a replacement if needed.
Cheers
unfortunately Mattyeti cant make it so if anybody else fancies a skills day at Gisburn at £33 4 of us or £44 if only 3 of us then let me know.
