Sorry for being thick but when you see helmet sizes in cm is it simply a case of measuring round your swede and seeing which size you fall into?

Yep that's right mate, try not to nick your tab and make it bleed like I did though when using a metal tape I saw that Enduro helmet on the On One site last night at work Adam, was impressed - shame I've just got a new Giro hex or I'd have gid that a goo....

personally try them on in a lbs before buying on line IMO. I have always been a large / xl but in the fox flux I am a small/medium which is just bizarre but fits perfect. I think it is more about the shape of your head for xc helmets e.g round, fat, thin etc Not sure if it the same for FF though.

Just above the eyebrows is the the correct way to measure mate. Padding plays a big part in lids though as well, i fit into a Medium MTB lid but a small MX lid.

I can endorse the Troy Lee A1, a really great helmet the best I've worn by far. Its so comfortable you truly wear it rather than it just sitting on your head, great self adjustment fairly light and airy.
I cant vouch for strength as I've not yet landed on my head whilst wearing it but I've had a few falls and its stayed in place, it has pretty good skull coverage.
Can be had for less than £70 so a real bargain.
PS I do not and have never worked for Troy Lee designs (wish I did).

I was gonna get one Kirky but read a few reviews that said the paint tended to chip easily, so I got the Hex instead (bargain price) - any issues with yours? love the look of em and I'm a bit of a TL fan boy.

Got a good deal on the Giro Hex - very nice helmet - great venting, better than my POC Trabec.

The bell stoker seems a good helmet aswell. Looks more enduro than the standard piss pots. Big sizing though.

Went from a cheapy Canyon (go outdoors special ) to a Trabec in Jan , worn it all year and am surprised how comfy it is , It fits my head so I'm happy and can recomend if you've got the right head , little tip if you want a cheap helmet , let the wife see you hurtling down a Scottish hillside in the pissy wet with a cheapo one on and hey presto "you are having a new and better helmet as a late xmas pressie " bargain .
