Neil, if the weathers good do you guys not fancy doing a loop around Ullswater instead, such a shame to miss out on the better natural stuff.
Either way I'll be gagging for a ride the weekend I get back. Just beasting myself in the hotel gym at the moment to try and keep whatever mediocre fitness I have, unfortunately it's being slightly off set by a shit load of food and beer in the evenings.

I hear what you are saying John ..and while it is tempting the group thinking now that we are losing daylight hours at a rapid rate ..was to stick to trail centres as much as possible ..unless it's a local ride which doesn't involve too much travelling . It's more from a safety point of view than anything else ..one or two mechanicals can seriously delay a ride and no one wants to be stuck out in the dark even with lights on a trail that you are not totally familiar with . Would love to do that ride in the spring ..but for now will stick to plan a)

Yeh I get you, I was thinking a good 22 mile loop around there would be around 4 hour tops but you are right the bigger the group the more to scope for mechanicals and it could easily be 6 hours. A 10 start though would only be a finish of 3 to 4 so minimal cycling in the dark. If Gaz or Kev as some like to call him could make it he knows some good Ullswater loops very well.

Sorry meant to say as always I'm happy to go with the glow just chucking a suggestion in there as well be heading to Whinlatter again.
Does anybody know some good extra stuff around Whinlatter by the way or would it be standard trail centre marked route, I've not been before so it's all new and good to me anyway but I've heard talk of some good sections to extend or bypass some of the more mundane sections.

Rachel Elizabeth ..posted something up about an extension very early on in the history of this forum ..but it was a " cheeky " ... I have only been once before but can't think any of it was mundane ..very " natural " trails ..they have made good use of the rocky terrain ..two big ups and downs ..you will enjoy it ..

Oh Saturday for some reason I thought it was a Sunday, I land Friday so can still make it but after a couple of weeks away the dragon may have something to say. I'll test the water when I'm back and see how I get on. I may have to confirm availability Friday night.
Is there a meet point or is the only one car park option there anyway?

There is a visitors centre there ..not sure how much it is to park there these days though... I will start a new thread for this ride ..so as not to confuse it with Gaz's ride in December ..
