Hi Guys
Just seen the Capra have thrown the lyrik on their bikes and reduced some prices. The top range one is now less than 3K
Tempted very tempted.
I know a new model will be coming out but that's a steal if you ask me.

I've seen many a thread on broken Capra's and poor customer service. It puts me right off carbon frames as failures don't just seem to be with YT, heard a lot of SC owners having broken frames too.

I've seen many a thread on broken Capra's and poor customer service. It puts me right off carbon frames as failures don't just seem to be with YT, heard a lot of SC owners having broken frames too. A guy I ride with has the Capra AL and he recently managed to damage the carbon seatstay. After sending his bike back to YT in Germany they said that the damage wasn't cover by warranty and the replacement seatstay was going to cost £300. After agreeing to pay the £300 he then waited another week for the bike to arrive, when the package arrived all that was in the box was a seatstay! We obviously found this hilarious but he was p1ssed! He then waited another week for the full bike to arrive.
I still think the value for money outweighs the poor customer service though. You could buy a full Capra cheaper than you could buy the components alone.

None of this sounds good!
You see a few around I wonder what the fail rate is

Aftercare was a major factor in choosing my last bike (Orange) from an old established shop (Drakes).
Might have cost more but it supports British jobs and gives the convenient option, in the event of a failure, to turn up at the shop or even the factory.

Yes I've gone down the 'buy foreign' route with the Chief. Love the bike but thankfully had no issues with the bike itself, wouldn't fancy having to send it back to Germany.
IF I ever buy another bike again, it'll be British based (ie Bird).

I've read even worse things about Evil. One guy cracked his in warranty carbon frame and called them. They told him "sorry, we don't make parts for your bike anymore" and that was the end of that as far as they were concerned.

I think this is where buying more expensive sometimes pays for it self.
Do Santa Cruz have good warranty stories?

I've not really had to put that to the test ... Free lifetime replacement on bearings ( suspension) to the original owner ( keep your receipt) ..no problems with the frame ( 2007)

I think this is where buying more expensive sometimes pays for it self. Do Santa Cruz have good warranty stories? It's not just the 'high end' bikes though. My Bird zero comes with a lifetime frame guarantee which stays with the bike forever - no matter how many times it's sold on. Pretty bloody impressive that and if I were to sell, would help massively with it's value.

With dare I say it... Overseas manufacturing a possibility?
