I keep meaning to do this but iv never got round to it I don't have a torque wrench and was worried I'd fuck something up if I didn't tighten it up correctly.
I like running a stiffer fork though how much of a difference will this make ?

I have one token in my 160mm pikes, but dont ask me how it got in there as the other half sorts out all the bike mechanic side of things (as long as I keep the coffee flowing). The main thing that I noticed in the feel of the fork was when dropping off things, before when I landed, even both wheels together it felt like the front went in too far and didnt really want to come back out, like it was a bit sluggish. The overall feeling in the spring was much smoother after the token was fitted and it didnt feel like I was going to bottom out the fork. Oh yeah and forgot to say, I only run the fork at 45 psi to get 25% sag due to my body weight and it said on the internet that for each token added you can reduce the recommended air pressure for body weight by I think about 5 psi per token.

Feck! 45 psi? I'm at 90! no wonder my Pikes feels fine Seriously mine are spot on - must be to do with body weight/PSI

I've just tried adding 1 tonight and found the fork felt a little too soft over the first 30% of travel, almost like my front tyre was running too soft, that was running 55psi rather than my normal 60psi. That was just after a quick blast down the street, might feel different on the trails.
I can imagine them being perfect for riders who prefer a softer feeling fork but are frequently bottoming the fork out.

haha mine are much better now. 45 psi is the lowest they can go. Most women come in lighter than men, except my cousins bird (shes a big un) and I think the shocks are more geared up for the male market so to speak.

Probably cos I never come off the blues

I can imagine them being perfect for riders who prefer a softer feeling fork but are frequently bottoming the fork out. I prefer the fork to feel softer on the initial stroke but get more progressive so I dont feel like the fork is going to bottom out on me. Adding more air just made the shock way to stiff for me to use and reduced my sag. After adding the token and changing the psi I had to adjust the rebound 2 clicks to the firmer side to balance the fork out so to speak. Failing all this take the shock pump with you to the trails...

IV got two in my 160 pike
Makes no difference to the first half of the travel just ramps up the pressure required to do the last Part of the travel
I got rather close to bottoming out when I first got it now even when trying to land wrong it won't go near bottoming out
2 spacers 25% sag 60psi I weight about 70/80 ish kg with kit on

Need to have a nosey at this on my revs, why though are they saying to undo it with a torque wrench that goes against everything I was taught as a spanner monkey!

I didn't bother with a torque wrench
Just pop cap off let airI out
Adjustable spanner or think 21? Mm socket
One turn and it was finger right UN do it pop spacers in do it back up with fingers then nip it with the socket again takes all of 2 mins On my pike it only goes so tight it literally stops turning so you cant over tighten it

I did mine and haven't looked back feels great and no chance of bottoming out
Doing my rear shock tonight as iv pushed the ring of the shock a few times
More so because iv landed wrong than because I jump of 100ft cliff edges

I currently have my pikes at 90psi and to be honest seem quite soft, I'm going out tomorrow so I may reduce the pressure and drop the sag to 30, see how I get on. How much do you weigh? I'm just over 14 stone

I never seem to use the final 2cm of travel. But it suits me fine, i ride them quite stiff. I'll check sag and psi tomorrow. Never messed with tokens and the like, i just like how it feels at the minute. Same here, always have about 20mm left, no matter how many times I nearly go OTB Seriously, they are spot on for me as they are.

See if there is some already in the fork If there is could try it with one less see if you get a bit more travel out the fork with out bottoming still ,
