So I watched the forecast and it said 60-80 mph gusts this evening. Anyway Tuesday is my bike night so I stood on the drive and thought it's not too bad so set off to meet my mates.
After 2k I was blown into the kerb twice, had a branch fall on me and almost hit by a car when the wind stopped me from 30mph to 2mph in 2 seconds! Had to pedal downhill ffs
so 50 to 60 mph is too strong IMO
Met up with my mates and we all agreed it was safer to go back home and watch TV. Try again tomorrow

suppose it depends on the route, wether mixing with much traffic, wether its a high level route on steep sided trails etc. then again there'll be a point when its better to stay inside no matter what you're wanting to do. theres 2 weather conditions i dont enjoy, high winds and ice.

As i drove it work this morning there were 2 massive oak trees blown over about 100 yards from where we were. According to facebook they came down about 5 minutes after we had split up to head back home!

I don't ride in wind if I can at all help it.. Doesn't matter how strong, I just don't ride in wind.
It scares the crap out of me, kinda like how thunder and lightning scares some people only slightly more gay.

I remember earlier in the year trying to ride down a road on the road bike all aeroed down tucked in a n stuff still having to pedal to keep the bike moving. Id say anything over about 30mph is going to cause you problems. Offroad about the same because above that things start falling off trees!
