Hello new on Here. Just a bit of an update on the Old Fart Watson. On Saturday 28 he will be 61, although he tried very hard not to make it. The crash helmet he ruined was his birthday present, ungrateful sod. I suppose a cake with 61 candles would be classed as a fire hazard in a hospital! I'm on Watson watch down in Cardiff on Saturday to give his wife a break and go back to Derby for a spell. I’m taking a tablet down to him to play with but do not expect too much as he has a long way to go yet. It is hoped that he may be released next week or the week after to the care of his long suffering wife Glynis so things are improving but this is going to take time. A nice thing to do for him to have a collection, good on you. I would suggest that if he is going to be sent home his wife will need a nurses uniform Ann Summers have them she could also get a whip at the same time.

Brilliant ...but won't that mean the old bugger will be chasing her around the house ! I'm guessing you might be a family member ... Tell him not to start a fire when he blows the candles out .. That would be one accident too many .. And thanks very much for the update ...I've not had the pleasure of meeting Andy myself but he is well thought of on here..

How do him thanks for posting about Andy I was hoping to get down to see him Saturday but Glynis didn't want him to have to much excitement Knowing Andy he would burn the house down with that many candles I'm surprised that boat he help build never sunk yet Gary

Don't get too excited - it's not Andy back........... yet! It's Glennys his wife reporting and hoping I'm doing this post correctly. I'm just home for a flying visit after leaving him tonight after visiting hours, tomorrow at home and then back for visiting on Sunday. Leaving him in the capable hands of his good mate Jim Evans tomorrow.
He's making good progress, although he's still struggling with his speech at times especially when he is tired. No treatment except rest and monitoring and hopefully in time he should make a good recovery. His wounds are now healing nicely after a nasty infection in one of them so he'll soon be back to his former handsome (!!) good looks.
He can't believe how many mates have been asking after him and if any one wants me to pass any message on to him I will check in again before I leave on Sunday.
He's due another ct scan on Monday and depending on the results they will try and get him home or at least transferred to a hospital nearer home.

Thanks for letting us know. It's great news that Andy is making progress, hopefully after Monday, he will move closer to home or fingers crossed home. I've only met Andy once but I knew straight away, he's a good bloke. Please tell him Happy Birthday and send him my best wishes Steve

Don't know how Jim is going to manage it ..getting him past the ward nurse ..but we will be in Dempsey's Bar in the city centre at 6.30 pm.... If only !! Happy birthday Andy ...hope to have a pint with you sometime ...
( there actually is a Dempsey's Bar in Cardiff ..but I only know that from looking it up on Google 30 secs before writing this ...so if he does get Jim to sneak him out ...I had nothing to do with it !! ) Edit : from an earlier post ..maybe on the other thread in "general chat "...I thought he was only 60 today and mentioned that on his card ...just in case he thinks he has lost a year !!

Thanks everybody for your comments and best wishes. I'll pass them on to him on Sunday along with lots of sloppy kisses from you all!
He's got a long road ahead but in true Andy style I've got to remember the glass is always half full. (or better still full if it's beer)

Little update on the old bugger Andy has made amazing progress from Friday I'm so happy to report. Today he can hold a normal conversation rather than talking in just one liners. He's only struggled on the very odd occasion to find the correct word. Unfortunately even if the ct scan tomorrow is good it seems it may be a while to put the wheels in motion to get him home but it depends which nurse you talk to! Great news me thinks early days still and I think he's doing brill
