I came across this while looking through some old pics. this was taken after a visit to a&e for me finger end sewing back on after a collision with a huuuuge tree trunk. the strange thing was that my glove was in perfect condition even though my finger was in a bit of a mess.

That's a bit more serious than the graze you got last we were out together,what's the story behind this? One of the local vigilante dog walkers scored a strike with a strategically placed log across one of the quick tracks in the woods a few miles from home and I had no time to react, cue an over the bars and face plant into a rock garden at about 20 mph  . I got lucky that a bloke was out jogging and dropped on me just after it happened and insisted I didn't try to ride home like I was planning on doing  (I thought the blood was from a bust nose). |

I'm ashamed to say that I caught an old fella laying a trap a few years back and bit my tongue, fearing bad press for mountain bikers, and it's bugged me ever since that I bottled saying something. I guess this is retribution..... |

Thankfully it wasn't bike related, I done that peach at work about a year and a half ago. I stood up and didn't realise there was a sharp corner right above my head.... It was like a murder scene lol, I still cringe every time im in the same area working.

I have had loads of offs but luckily nothing too serious to date, made up for it playing football over the years with several broken bones, ligaments, cartilage etc etc before calling it a day on the dangerous sport to focus on the so much safer mtb.........err on second Thoughts.
Jesus I'll have to make sure my mrs doesn't look over my shoulder whilst in this thread, she will be there tying even more.
That is one nasty facial wound Matt, I don't know which would be worse, the pain itself or the ear ache at home.

oooohh some nasty little injuries...... not a good photo, but i broke my finger while riding a few years ago, which took the whole impact.not just broken but smashed to bits.first operation k-wires were fitted, then it was apparent that that wasnt going to work so 2nd op. i had a piece of bone drilled out from my hip to make a new finger bone. 9 weeks off work, 2 ops. loads of physio afterwards and still now only 50% movement.i suggested in between ops, 'wouldnt it just be easier to take off the finger???'. surgeon said 20 years previous they would have done that, but thankfully treatment has moved on from that. finger looked like a cumberland sausage for a while  |
