just heard on the grapevine that 7stanes CIC is closing down...
received the following email from a biking buddy of mine....
So 7stanes CIC lot are to close...and FCS will take it back over...not sure what that's means in long term yet but it's not looking good for trails...Tally (from Uplift Scotland) has lost the trail contract for maintenance and it's going to a lower bidder as are all others trail's maintenance. The life expectancy of some trails are not looking good... :-(
Email.... unfortunately despite considerable efforts the CIC has been unable to generate sufficient revenue to make it viable in the long term. I therefore write to inform you that The 7stanes CIC will cease trading on 31 March 2016, and from 1 April 2016 the future promotion of the 7stanes trails will be managed by Forest Enterprise Scotland!

What does CIC ..stand for ? Is this a local contractor who has a maintenance contract ? Forest Enterprise in Northern England are the folks responsible in this neck of the woods and have been working closely with volunteer trail builders at various locations ..and spending quite a bit of money too ... It may not be a bad thing ..

7stanes CIC (Community Interest Company)
the SFC taking over does not fill me with confidence in their ability to run the trails... this is the same SFC that started building the new £1.5 million visitor centre down at Kirroughtree only to shut the fecking trails for nearly a year just as the said new centre was opened to the general public.... now is that good business acumen....LOL..

No definitely not ..but they do seem to have a decent budget to play with ..having built all of these visitor centres at a huge cost..I think that they are realising that if they can't attract visitors then it's going to be a hell of a waste ..which means that they have to keep the trails in decent order ... There has been a hell of a lot of stone brought in this year at Kielder ...even going to the expense or airlifting it in to inaccessible places ... I can only hope that it works out the same for you ...
