I have to go down that way to collect something next week. Is there anywhere worth riding around there?

Cheers I thought it may be but seems odd that there's a few mtb shops there. May have to stop somewhere on the way back.

MTB shops sprung up because the number of "leisure cyclists" wanting a comfy ride round the park. Not a massive amount there unless you go up Cannock on the way back.

I went round rutland water last year it is mainly shale and Tarmac paths. It wasn't as flat as I thought it would be, the pub at the top of one of the hills did a good bowl of chips. We did about 18 miles.

I live under 10 miles away from Rutland. As others have said you can ride it but you most likely wont enjoy it much. If you are keen to ride in the area try Wakerley and the Scar tree trail, www.forestry.gov.uk/forestry/englandnorthamptonshirerockinghamforestwakerleygreatwoodwakerleywoodcarparkscartreetrail . Although short it is the best thing in the area, just race your previous times on each lap. If you keep an eye open on the trail there are multiple off piste sections you can try to. Not sure when you are down but the club i ride with there meet on a Wednesday at 18:30. Enjoy and let me know what you think
