I ride solo quite often, if I didn't I would never get out! The thing with solo riding is you need to know when to hold back Good point - if I'm on my own I usually hold back anyway. Yesterday was just a daft mistake and me probably not paying attention. In fact I've the same once before on that section so should have known better. Pez can you remeber what the app was called? Chris it was Endomondo, similar to Strava, but you could download to PC, then 'search for athlete' which would bring up a real time map on the PC with you on it. She could then just glance at it now and again and check I was still moving on the map, pretty good. Don't use it know as she knew when I'd stopped at the pub, but worth checking out

Pez can you remeber what the app was called? iPhones have Find My Phone in icloud.com, which if you have family sharing set up wifey/partner can track where you are and see if you've stopped moving (can probably do it without family sharing by logging into your icloud account). Similar think on Android as well, but can't remember what it's called. I think it is part of the Google account integration, so someone could log into your Google account & find you. I also have an Android app called GPS Share which, with a few taps, sends your GPOS coordinates in a text message, so you could with text home or read it out to emergency services.

Just found this app on Google Play store: REALTIME GPS TRACKER 2Had a quick play around with it and seems to work OK. Will give it a proper try over the weekend. Allows you to send an email, text message or Face-ache message with a URL link to people so they can see your location/route.

If I didn't ride solo I would be missing out on stacks, one have 1 mate whos keen and we don't always have time off at the same time. I also wouldn't be able to use my Selfie Stick!

I rode/ride my MTB on my own, had an OTB at Hamsterley the other year and landed on my face, felt my neck "stretch" when I landed. While I only had a nasty graze it could have been so much worse. Had to find my way back to the car park and drive home. I have dome less MTBing since then, though I still love going up the Dales I just take it steadier (wasnt fast anyway lol). Doing more road biking, at the moment.
