Following my crash and head injury I had to register myself with DVLA and not drive. This is a legal requirement.
To cut a long story short, I have made a good recovery whilst the overloaded DVLA system has been underway so I went to my own Dr to present details. I timed this to have maximum recovery myself, (2 months being typical in good cases) but before the DVLC officially imposed their timetabled decision (due in another few weeks).
I've not been in this position before so I went to the doctor well prepared with all my details and ready for a close inspection.
After some questions and informing me that he had seen me out running the (wonderful!) doctor told me I could drive now. My medical record was updated before my eyes so that when DVLA look in a few weeks I'll already be OK. Phew.!
