Very true.
The boardman is a great spec for the money. Makes you wonder how some companies can charge £3k plus for a similar spec.

Easy, boardman prob only make 2 -300 quid on a bike and sell lots. High end bikes have around a grand across them, ever wondered when you see last years model or sale bikes with a massive discount, and they still prob make money when they are massively reduced!

To be fair I really like that! For that kind of money it looks like a great spec.
If I didn't have a bike and had 1.5k max I would easily get one

i think if halfords offer 0% finance youd see more of these than anything else imo.

10% off at Halfords & CRC when you become a member of British Cycling (as well as free 3rd party insurance) makes it even sweeter

Having said that I got 10% off at my LBS just by asking when I bought my Whyte. HE said you can either have interest free credit or 10% (might have been 8%) - well worth an ask.

Give me a shout when you get it down to the stage where it costs nothing at all ..haha ! I'm sure it's been said before on here but the most cost effective way to buy a bike is to do it with a 0% credit card and then go talk a deal with your bike shop of choice .. 10% is the bare minimum you should expect for a "cash " deal... Make sure you then set up a payment to the credit card company to pay off the " loan " over the 0% period otherwise interest charges will kick in

If all I had was 1,500 I wouldn't hesitate to get one - that's a nice spec that is.

I think most people aknowledge that the boardman so are good bikes and great value. It seems to be Halford people's issues are with and if they can see past that then they will get a good bike for the money. Me, if I am throwing 1,500 at something I want a feel good factor and I just don't get that from Halfordo. Wish I could

can always build it yourself tbh. it litterally takes 10 mins to put together then a bit of fettling. halfords sell them to be fair. they dont produce them . jmo.

Agree with the above. Some of the Halfords guys are good - depends on your store. Some of the mobile mechanics offer bike in a box builds for a reasonable price. Although if you DIY you learn as you go.

Never got the bike snobbery thing - that Boardman is a nice frame and a really good spec - who gives a feck what name is on the bike?

i think if people can get over there bike snobbery then you will see alot more of these on the trail at this price and spec. i think you will still see less of these on the trails than YT's Capra...they also offer an amazing value for money bike... One thing it is true on those Boardman bikes...the welding is amazing...looks much much better than any aluminium Spesh, Scott, Trek, etc...dont understand why these higher brands can't do the same? Maybe because it would make some people not bother with carbon...maybe!? in the end of the day, it doesn't really matter what bike as long as you have fun, and if i was on a strict budget i would look at the best deal i could get for my buck...and i would start with Canyon for sure. for everyone it is good that brands like YT, Canyon, Radon, Boardman, On One are pushing the boundaries and bringing out better and better value for money...i remember some years ago, Cube's used to be a lot more expensive than i think they are now for example...

tbh ive had several top makes. i originally thought the more i spent the better i was and the bike which in truth was wrong. ive spent shit loads and some of the best ive owned have been used ones or ones ive built myself. i do like the boardman but as i have new i wont be buying one but id certaintly recomend them to my mates looking at he spec and general looks of the machine. i wonder how long before they do a long travel am bike or a dh bike

Love the YT's but a bit heavy and last time In looked seemed aimed at the DH side of things - have they changed the range then?
On Ones I just have never quite liked a bike of theirs enough to buy one. Almost got the 456 carbon HT but then I saw a Bird Zero and that was that.
