10 weeks after my crash and 2 weeks after my Doctor gave me clearance to drive, DVLA have withdrawn my permission to drive and asked for my driving license to be returned. Getting out of this one looks like being fun! The minimum "ban" I think I can get is 6 months, which with luck I can get from the crash date, not from a few days ago as it appears in the letter.
The good news though is that I'm running 30 miles a week and will soon be back on my bike
- with a new helmet of course....
All the best, you jammy buggers.

That is a bugger Andy ..surprising too if your own doctor has cleared you to do so ..I'm assuming the DVLA were made aware of this ? Is this a standard " ban " applicable to everyone who has had severe head trauma or based on individual medical records ? Good news on the running ...you can't keep a good man down for long !

I think DVLA assume the worst case and can override my Doc on driving licenses. My Doc put an entry onto the joint computer system which I think they can all access. Frankly I think it's an organisational quagmire!

Great news about the running Andy!!! So frustrating with the DVLA, still if the ban goes from the date of the accident there shouldn't be to much longer to wait.

Great work on the running Andy! I used to do about 40 - 50 miles a week back before I had kids. I'm lucky if I get 10 miles a week in at the moment!
I think it's standard procedure from the DVLA with a head injury, have you had a chat with your consultant? He might be able to provide more info to the DVLA to get it sorted quicker.

DVLA have to be seen to be justifying their very existence.... 6 months will pass in no time bud....... onwards and upwards one step at a time...... take it easy...

Let me talk to someone I know about that, spoke to them just after your crash and they were able to sort something. Let me see what I can do. Really glad to see you back on the forum and back out being active as well!

Got to laugh. On Friday I returned my driving licence as requested. On Saturday my annual road tax demand from DVL was delivered.
Imagine the naughty words I was saying!
