Enlighten me why this bike in particular? If I were to buy a steel, between Orange and Cotic, I think I would go Cotic. Even though I had a go on a Five the other day and really enjoyed it. Very robust!

Adam - I normally don't get much of a 'feel' for Orange bikes, as good as they are, I've just never felt it.
That HT though is a lovely bit of kit and really nicely specced too. I'd have one of those any day - but, my Zero still beats it (or at least matches it) on spec and is 150 quid less. Still. for the steel curious (which I still am, a bit) that'd be a bloody lovely HT.

That would made a mammoth trail centre slayer. Wouldn't mind smashing around a few local places on one. No real need for a dropper on it either!

Very robust! This bike?... Well those who know me, know I have a penchant for Steel bikes.. And had numerous Cotics already, I also had the original P7.... So a bit of Nostalgia?... And a bit of steel... Plus being orange.. When you mark the frame... You get a re-paint, and re-decal.. For £100-150... So could have a brand new looking bike every 6 months... I've recently had my Alpine re-sprayed...

You need to ride a lightweight steel bike to appreciate it... Smoother.. Not Harsh like Carbon or Alu, and cheaper than Ti. I'd say the Bird beats it on Spec.. Just the nostalgia and steel thing.. If the bird was steel, particularly Reynolds... I'd of had one in my fleet already...

Looks like you have the same type of crush by steel as i have for Ti...lol...i wish i could afford one of these...but 1K (with a friend's discount) just for the frame... kingdombike.com/en/ti_bike/vendettai saw a really cool video of Orange building a Five (i think) for Guy Martin on You Tube and really enjoyed their ethos, etc. And like you said, my neighbour sent his chipped and scratched frame back to be re-sprayed in a different colour, and it looks like a new bike...but then again, if it was Ti...lol
