Got it in one ...see you tomorrow . I've just had a fun filled evening at A&E with my son ...again... The mince & dumplings that have been on slow cook all day better be worth eating still or he will be back there sooner than he thinks ..

First of all could I start this by offering up my total & profuse apologies to Kev ...as by the time 2.00pm came around with every article of clothing soaked completely through...we had had enough . The problem was that I didn't have Kev's number..so had to wait until he contacted me to let him know and even then with no signal to call him directly the message didn't get to him straight away I hate letting people down ..so can only hope that as he goes there most weekends that this wasn't a totally wasted trip.
As already mentioned it was wet...very wet which took away a little bit of the gloss from the day .. It was also very noticeable that winter has not been kind to the trails with a lot of the berms in particular needing maintenance... Good to meet up with Andy once again..still as fit as ever and really good to meet Danny (danthor) who was a bit of a demon in both fitness and his mtb skills which he had transferred over from his dirt bike ...being young and relatively new to mountain biking I didn't really know what to expect ...but he could teach this old dog a few new tricks .. I thought he must have had a crate of Redbull prior to meeting us as he likes a jump and spent as much time flying as he did on the ground ! The place was busy due to tomorrow's race ..with riders scoping the route today It was still a good ride out ..but 3 hours and a good soaking was more than enough ...once again my apologies Kev .

How bloody remiss of me ... Not that I ever take their friendship for granted ..but it was also great to see Dave & Jean today..fresh back from their skiing trip in the Alps ... Dave reckoned he was knackered ..but all that altitude training must have helped ! Jean as usual made climbing look effortless...I had a worse than usual day ..stomach pains which I found out on my way home was trapped wind as I was err em ...burping a lot in the car Many thanks too to Jean for a very welcome hot drink & cake at our cafe stop in Innerleithen..my shout next time .

Indeed a tad wet. Dan and I did head back up to buzzards nest after we parted ways with you but didn't see a transition bike. With cold setting in we headed back up to bbb and the lovely descent back to the cars.
A fun, if damp, day with the joy of having a stick go through my rear wheel jamming it and bending a spoke. Spooky is still fun but super g needs a bit of tlc.
To top it off here's the worst geordie accent ever as promised:

It really was a wet day although the weather didn't take too much away from the day I felt. It was really good to meet everyone and I will make the effort to visit your neck of the woods one weekend . Once we split off we did burm baby burm and I didn't fall off this time haha so an improvment from the first run. We also went along the blue trails which I hadn't done before which I really enjoyed. Thanks to everyone involved it was a really good day

Where are my pals hahaha I did wonder how "up" for going back up you all would be given the conditions and you'd already had around 3 hrs riding already in before i arrived, not easy when it's as driech as it was today, anyway i still got cold and muddy, shame to waste the journey y'know Never mind, summer is not far away and another ride can be arranged, lets just make it a sunny sunday for my sake as saturday is a work day for me Cheers chaps Wh

Introducing Danny and his Banshee which he rides like a screaming demon... AndyR and Danny psyching himself up for his initiation to the group A very nice rendition of Max Bygraves " you've gotta have hands "...punk style ( you have to imagine the microphone br] Dave's had gone a bit soft at the front so after trying to blow it up Jean had a bit rummage around his sack to see if she could find the one thing that would make it firm again It's a real bitch when you get a puncture in the rain and have to fit a new tube . It was great to get out only third time this year, even if it did become a tad wet. Good to meet Danny too showed us old timers (me and Neil) how to do it even when it was really wet, don't know how you could see anything, my glasses were covered in mud and rain. Nice to get out with you again Andy too, hope you will be able to get out a bit more now. Sorry to of missed you Kev next time.

Those that were out on the ride at Glentress know that I get really sore knuckles after doing a bit of riding. They are very sore today as well. It's in every knuckle down each finger, thumbs are ok though. It almost feels like the knuckles are swollen today so bending them is causing pressure. My question to the forum is, has anyone ever experienced this or know of anyone that has? And how did you / they try to sort it? at the moment all I can think of is using some fat grips on the bars..
