As in the wheel type The last time i was on the bike, a month ago, (i know ) I got a bust spoke, took it to a local shop to get fixed, which turned out to be a bad move but that's another story, got it home, tyre on, blow it up, test ride up n down the path outside my house, sorted, then parked the bike in it's usual spot in a nice warm room where it sat for a month ( i know i know, well it's been really shit weather and i've been busy ) Right then i picked the thing up to go on a ride this morning and it was making a strange noise..WTF ! how can a bike get another bust spoke just from sitting in a room, Alpine Bikes Glentress to the rescue, they fixed it up in no time but it seems the aluminium nipple was corroded, and upon inspection i have more that are ready to go ! Now i didn't know this but aluminium nipples rust apparently so my question to Dave the bike mechanic was well why fit them to a bike if they rust, it's not very handy in a country as wet as Scotland is it, the answer is weight, to save about 20g per wheel, bloody hell, can you even feel something that weighs 20g if you put it in your hand Anyway, I handed the bike back to get the shit nips off and proper brass nips on, cost about £50 for both wheels Top tip for today:- Always get your wheels built with brass nips folks for a long lasting wheel

But don't brass ones just drop off when the weather gets cold ..Ive heard that brass monkeys have problems with a slightly different part of their anatomy ..
