Little edit of a small section of trail over Sandwell valley. If anyone is local it's worth a visit. It's only a mile or so long but is good to session and build up skill. There are also many miles of off piste if you know where to look. Much too wet Sunday to film the off piste though!

Might have to give that a go one of the days. Looks fairly tame so would probably be good for my lad.

Yeah it's all tables and everything is very rollable. It can be a lot of fun though as you can go VERY fast if you so wish. There are also a couple of cheeky transfers you can do and a pump track on the other side of park. The trail itself is only about a mile long which would make it ideal for kids.

Now I've got a proper bike carrier I'll nip over there one of the days in the week as it's only 30 mins away.
When the weather improves a bit.
If the weather improves a bit.
I'm not going to go, am I?

No. But let's face it for the sake of riding a mile it's not worth lifting you're bike onto the roof ! Lol

Ha ha, probably not. Barrfy's point about building skill is a good one though. I'm self taught - trouble being I was a shit teacher.

I like Sandwell valley and take the kids over alot. Its also good to practice table tops on the the last bit of the black section, just keep hitting that one bit back to the top, down again. Haven't done any of the natural trails around there yet but it is on my to do list.

Is it fairly empty in the week kalli do you know? I hate crowded trails and with it being so near the city I always imagined it being rammed.

It's empty at the weekend Pez! Gets busy in the summer months though! The off piste yesterday was beyond sloppy but serious arse out fun. I can ride there in 20 minutes so its ideal for a quick mess about or improving my technique, if you can even call what I do a technique!

Be careful with the car park though - the one by the trail has a height barrier so you'll rip the bike off the roof! You need to use one of the other car parks - can't remember the names though been a while since I've been to Sandwell Valley - they hadn't got any trails/bike shop when I went last time!!

Zulu, why don't you ride there on the canal system, that way you would get a good 30 mile training ride as well?

As barmy said it doesn't tend to get busy, there can be a few kids hanging about the bottom of the trails in the good weather, listening to music and riding bikes. I've come round a bend on the little red run to find some idiots sitting there drinking and the barstard didn't move, just gave me a funny look.

Barmy! Haha! I am a bit I guess. Good call on using the canal network though it's how I normally get there. Only trouble is its wetter than an otters pocket at the minute so I took the road yesterday.

It's hard to describe where they are. The easiest way is to say join Black Country Cycling Club on Facebook and join a club ride. The easiest one to find is at the side of the golf club. If you have the priory ruin on your left follow the long path almost to the horse stile. On your right there is a gate you have to wheelie the bike through. Once through there follow the perimeter wall all the way around until you come across a clearing. You can see a nice little section pointing down the hill from there. There are two little kicker jumps on your left hand side on the way down which are fun.

Oh and another if you cross the road over the horse stile and follow the path around to the left there are a few runs in the three down there. Watch out though as some have come down and you have to duck to get through!

Do they just post local rides up or is it more like Stourbridge cycling club with more routine regular rides?

We do a ride every Sunday at various places and various disciplines of the sport. I think the next ride is a road ride but we often go over Stil Cop, Cannock off piste, The Wrekin, Hopton, Eastridge and beyond. The point tagged on the below map is the 'clearing' where you pick up the little run down the side of the golf course from. You can see it's position in relation to the road and you get a rough idea of where the wall would be.
