You got one then? whats it going on and a full report please.
I'm thinking, why pay 170 quid on a full 1x11 drive train if this new cassette can do the same job?

Fitted it the other week mate chain seems a bit flimsy the other thing is chain line you can't pedal backwards first two Gears it will drop back down but might be able to do away with that if I remove the spacer on the drive side and fit it to the n/s .. To be fair made no difference to me as I was using a 1x10 with 42 expander mate and never had a problem with it dropping down gears . and was running a 30t on front but gone 32 now as I had one in the man cave .. And the 30t was fked .. So feels a little harder on climbs .

So you have to have a special chain then? I thought it was just a cassette swap? shame if it doesn't work well as that would have saved about a 100 squid on a full 1x11!

I'm quite intrigued by this 1x10, 11x42 cassette. You mean one of these pez I just been looking at them and wondering what the gearing set up would be like looking at ratio between the 11 speed I have and one of these not a lot in it .

I though you still had to swap the mech and shifter to match the cassette?

Oh right - not a true 1x10 then? so you still need a shifter and mech? FFS might as well just go full 1x11 then.

Me and Chris were talking about this new 1x10 cassette that's come out - 11-42, sounds good if it works....

Also for the weight weenie it's lighter than the xt m8000 and forget to clarify it works with standard mech and shifter. Personally I have a xtr shifter and slx mech, mech will be replaced with xt when it fails/breaks.

Brilliant Kirky cheers - that's what I was on about - think I confused Marmite! If that works on a standard 10 speed chain and shifter and mech - no need to bother with going full 1x11! Keep me updated on how it goes - did you set it up yourself? easy to do or a shop job?

Yes I assume the new wide range 10 speed cassette will work with a medium rear mech? that correct?
I will buy the new cassette a new 10 speed chain and perhaps treat meself to one of them thar new fangled oval rings - a 32t jobbie. Be a load cheaper than going 1x11.

Keep me updated on how it goes - did you set it up yourself? easy to do or a shop job? I replaced a SRAM cassette with an hive 42 expander with a praxis which was only 40T that just needed the b tension dropping back a bit but the cable tightening a touch, the sunrace just went on and wound the B tension out a tad. Easiest ever. The cassette seems really well made and is spread over 3 alloy spiders so its not as fiddly as some.
The step up from 9 to the pussy cog is much smoother than any cassette/expander combo I've tried. I've been running various cassette pussy cog combinations for three years now after changing each of the bikes that didn't come that way. in fact I don't think ive ever had to fiddle with a front mech other than removing it from a bike.

Great, I'll go with the Sunrace I think, I'm never having a front mech/shifter again, pain to clean, unnecessary clutter and weight, just no need.
