Awesome! It's a 20 minute lung buster of a climb but once you are up there you are rewarded. A decent XC loop and a fair few downhill runs thrown in too.

Hopton is great. In fact Hopton and Eastridge are some of my favourite trail centres. It's actually brilliant because NO ONE GOES THERE. The most cars i've seen on the car park on a Sunday morning is 6 and i've never come across another rider holding me up (or me holding them up) out on the trail. I'm going Sunday 20th Pez, meeting at 9:30 on the car park and you are welcome to join the gang. No facilities (not even shi*ers, although we all know you are resourceful in that dept.) Mixed ability group as some of us have had a lazy start to the year and not got out much... Great offer mate! I'll check me rota.

Don't forget there's a little qualifier run just off the car park. It starts off as a blue with a red run option off it. Look out for the red arrow as I missed it first time round. It's only about a mile but gets the heart rate up and adds a little extra ride time. Not far from the end is a blue run which can be added in also to increase the miles, but it's very dull, just fire road with another uphill really.

What about me? No doubt you'll be working, or the Sky television will break.

Oh yeah and got to try out the new 32t oval chainring Wednesday night. Didn't have much time so it was just a lap of the monkey to see how it would cope on some ups I new quite well. I was quite nervous as lung buster was first and got into the 42t ring, but didn't need it as I started spinning out and had to change down. I was also worried about the change from the 36t to the 42t but it was smooth and felt like any other gear change. The best thing was I didn't feel like my hands were dancing over the gear changes, much less to twiggle about with when a hill was approaching. All said it was only the monkey trail, how it will feel on a much longer ride with more elevation will remain to be seen, but so far a positive The monkey is horrible for climbs to be fair all clime not much reward I feel so if you coped ok on that section happy days . How do you rate the oval kit as I am thinking of doing it I run 30 up front with expander on rear on hard tail and 1x11 on full suss with 30 up front and still am crap and hate climbs

I only did the monkey too and though a couple of the banks are steep they are only short, I want to try it out over the long mynd but when I get there i may be wishing I'd picked somewhere else.
