Yeah the actual met office warning does say that it will be worse South & West ..spreading north and eastwards throughout the day . I have just sent an email around our local riding group asking for opinions ...I hate wind more than any other element ..but I'm just keeping folk informed .. I'm still keen on doing our own ride ..with the alternative being to sit moping around all day ...

The forecast for langsett on the bbc www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2644911Shows the stronger wond coming at 2pm, it was 1pm when I check this morning so seems to be moving back. I'm happy to give it a go. Are we meeting at 9am or starting at 9am.

ok G but be aware that early morning when you make your decision could be the worst part of the day

Good job I re visited the arrangements page, I had it in mind that the cutgate route starts from langsett end, so I would have headed over the wood head pass rather than the snake road (pass) which Google MPs is directing me towards.
An earlier start than I first though, is there a sit down loo at the car park/meet point Glynn. Just in case.

it can start from either end, but we're doing it from near fairholmes. yes there are toilets at the visitor centre 400 yards away, but dont know what time they open. i'll have a look on their website. visitor centre opens 9.30 but dont know if that also means the w.c. block

Some good pics there G, where's all the others you took of your bike. Lol. What G hasn't shown is when he was French kissing with the ewes skull, kind of Necrophilia and beastiality combined.
Great ride today despite the gentle breeze and sogginess, tough climbs especially the peaty one from the derwent side up to cutgate, the more rocky one from the other side was strangely fun in a way.
Absolutely amaze balls fantabulous long descent towards langsett, had a bit of a faff before I set off with my sunglasses, misted up and couldn't see a thing then had to stop once for walkers and the others did hang around for me or notice for a while when I had to stop for an inpromptu stoppage to fix a flat only metres from the nod of the fast to rocky singletrack descent. Going to bin those tyres off, I've had two rides with rocky descents and had a puncture twice, once when tubeless and again with a tube.
Cheers guys.

Glad you all had a great ride ...and some cracking pics . The Mickleton Edge drop is one of life's greatest pleasures on a dry and dusty day ..and on the 3 occasions I have done this ride that's how it's been ... G. This should be one of your local rides now ..hope summer isn't over so you get a dry run !

I was thinking that...since I literally live 10min away, when the weather is good, I could go there even after work for a quick blast! Doing these descents with a post and seat was interesting...my legs and arms were screaming at the end, specially the really cool, fast, flowy and long one! What a great day! Summer never arrived!?

No worries mate, just kidding! You missed an awesome ride yesterday...not stupidly tough climbs and awesome descents...in fact this ride was more rewarding than all others I've done @peaks. Screaming mile (or suicide brake) without a dropper and seat high, added to the excitement #remembertheolddays!?

Would have loved to have tagged along but was working in the morning then pulling my house to bits in the afternoon. Will be worth it in the end though.
