Went over last night - dry, dusty and fast trails - hard to believe it's mid September - long may it last

some of my local stuff has turned to sand it's that dry. You going bombing round a corner then hit a pile of soft sand and you can go anywhere except straight!

Did part of the Dog (Devils staircase) on our travels today and it's all dust and pea gravel - slippy on corners but great fun. Loving riding sans mud in September!

It's STILL riding really fast! yesterday was like a day in June and the place was rammed.

What do people that know this place think conditions will be like this Saturday? Never been there before so not sure what to expect.

It'll be wet obviously and some sections (pebbles) will be slippy but it generally holds up fairly well in the bad weather (Dog and Monkey). It has hammered down though and more to come. I'm going up there tomorrow so will report back.

The Dog and Monkey usually hold up pretty well.. You'll encounter a few puddles and maybe a bit of mud and like Zulu said, It'll be slippery on the pebbles but still good fun.

They do have a lot of tyre noise but that being slow must have been the rider!
I've got a couple of mates with fat bikes and neither are slow..

He probably couldn't pull over either as you'd need a motorway slip road to do that.

Screech, just did the Dog today as had stuff to do and I was surprised how good it was considering the rain this week. The very first section (Twist and Shout) is quite slippy as it's basically wet pebbles, but not too bad. The only other issues were a few puddles towards the end (are we there yet?) which are big and be aware as they are deeper than they look. I'd suggest maybe running your tyres slightly softer than normal as the Dog is mostly pebbles in the ground.
Aside from that though it's riding really, really well. Enjoy.

Awesome thanks for that. Do you have anymore rain forecast as down south looks a bit hit and miss?

Might not effect many but the Heritage trail up from town was closed this afternoon by the Feds....on the way home the forensics van was parked at the top end of the trail where it crosses the road. Looks like the rozzers were looking in the brook and the field behind the Horns pub.

My thoughts too Will. From what I saw today something has been found. Know his family and the poor lad suffered from depression and had threatened this sort of thing. His words shortly before he disappeared were 'I'll be found, but not for a long time'. Hope I'm wrong. Could be totally unconnected.
