Found it to be a nice ride out around the lake, I will definitely have another trip up.
We parked up at the dam then went anti-clockwise, very easy track to ride on but was a bit more hilly than I expected, Strava had it at 2378 ft climbing although I doubt this. Don't know about the other car parks but you can't pay at the meter until 8am.

The Lakeside Way is a very scenic route ..but to be honest I absolutely hate the surface in all but the very driest of conditions as it is so cloying ..and energy sapping ..so leave it to the weekend warriors who make up the majority of visitors to the area .. Any of the Black , Red or Blue routes although not the best of surfaces compared to other trail centres are definitely more preferable to slogging around the LW . Anyway there is much more natural riding in the area to keep you occupied ...which we don't mind sharing our knowledge of .. With a bit of warning as to when you are heading this way

Will definitely be trying other routes within time but as a first time up it was a canny ride.
I need to get my fitness up a bit I think, the last few "forrest" rides I've been blowing out my arse.
