Told u that the 11-36 is the way forward mate. No hassle whatsoever Hope u get it sorted for next weekend xxxxx I know mate, I'm dropping the bike off at cyclefix tomorrow. If they can't get it running with the 42t I'm telling them to throw the twatting thing in the bin and just to set it up with the standard cassette Aye scotty should be able to sort it mate!!!

Nah I'd rather be spending my money on bits for the downhill bike Hows it coming along? Well I've got my forks and cranks and I'm going to either order my wheels from crc this week or brakes/bars/stem from Germany as there are some bargains to be had at the minute due to the exchange rate

Well basically, my set up was never going to work without the one up rad cage or a 40t expander. The angle the mech needs to sit at to allow clearance for the 42t cog was too great which meant that not enough of the chain was wrapped around the smaller cogs of the cassette and therefore causing it to slip. So the twatting thing has been taken off and it's running sweet as a nut with the standard 11-36 cassette. I'll just have to man up a bit on the bigger climbs I've also decided the 1x10 set up with an expander cog is nothing more than a bodge of a set up and I really wouldn't recommend it to anyone. If you want a wide range cassette go 1x11 and do it properly

Have to agree with the 42 tooth thing being a botch job. I've always said exactly the same.
Glad you got sorted anyway.

I agree with you all to a certain extent anyway. I only have 1x10 on my bikes and knew on the full suss I'd be struggling at places like the Peaks, Snowdon etc like that. As soon as the Shimano 1x11 gets to an acceptable price I'll be having me some of that. The HT is just normal 1x10 - and does shift sweeter for it.

I struggled a bit with mine, it shifted okay but not perfect - fitted a Rad Cage and now it shifts like a proper shifty thing
