Killed the temp panaracer on the back of mine yesterday pinging off to many roots ive mullered the sidewall. Loving the chunky money on the front but it wont go into the rear max is about 2.25 apparently. Any recommendations on a decent rear? Got a wide mix where I ride. Bone dry deep sand, hard pack sand/earth, thick slippy mud an vey wet sand. They can all easily be there even in the height of summer.

If you like the chunky monkey you should team it up with on ones smorgasboard. 2.25 and a really good rear tyre, got it on the rear of my S/S.
Cheap too.

I'd go with the Maxxis Ardent, it rolls very well and grips enough for a rear

Step, the Slaughter is essentially a Rock Razor copy, pretty sure they're still made in 26".

The rock razors bloody tempting had a nose on that, had the ground control in the past liked that till it got bored an split its self open. The ardents are meant to be good to gah! confusing!
I can rule the Smorgasboard out tried a friends an wasnt overly happy with the way it behaved when it breaks away it doent give much warning

I haven't had any issues with Grip, perhaps it's your tyre pressure!

I am getting used to the Ardent more and although it does slide out a bit on the loamy, rooty stuff, it's never scary and it's pretty controllable and it is a fast tyre. I'd give it a go if I were you.

My favourite would be Jessica Ennis... Quite fast and I wouldn't mind getting to grips with her rear ....
