Fresh back from riding in Scotland's Braemar area ...Ant is keen to lead this ride . Other plans have fallen through ...we had been offered the use of a house in the forest ...but they turned out to be flakes (crumbled under pressure....when we said yes) . Now I know this is only a week before the Helvellyn ride ( Spell check for Kirky ) ..but personally that ride was a non starter for me so close to going to Skye. Ant said to extend it out to anyone who might want some more Lakeland air prior to the H-ride... Time and meeting place not yet confirmed ..

I might be out of the big hill ride the following week so may do this. Have my youngests birthday party on the Sunday but hope the celebrations are confined to then and there's no prep required for me on the saturday.

I know about the Sunday after for Helvellyn however my Mrs got her off duty and she's working Saturday and Sunday so unless I can arrange a sleep over and days baby sitting for the little ones I'm going to have to miss out.
My you guests birthday party is this Sunday so I'm hoping I'm excused from preparations on the Saturday, it's actually her birthday tomorrow so nothing special going on for the Sunday but I know the mrs has strange ideas like wanting the house spotless before we let 20 six year olds loose and turn it upside down again. My own opinion is save the hovering up and tidying until afterwards.

Do you have a rough break down of the ride, how many miles, climb age, percent off road etc. I like to know this stuff in advance.

Sorry John ...I'm afraid I don't . It's Ant's version but I don't think it deviates too much from routes that are featured in books / mags ...

Meet at 9.30 for a prompt 10 start, take the first Keswick exit off the 66 from Penrith, down to the mini roundabout, straight over , past the garage on the left and turn right at the traffic lights, then over the bridge and bear round to the right and it's free parking on the right hand side next to the park

99% sure I'm in just hoping I get back from London early enough on the Friday so I'm not flaked out.
Do you have a street name or postcode any, so I can let the sat nav take the strain.
I've spoke to Mike and he will most likely join us.

The road we park on is Brundlehome road. Which is just off station road, the road is next to the bowls club in upper fits park, that's the best I can do

I know around the park area so I'm sure I will find you all. If there's no parking I tend to head for the pencil museum which is reasonable price.

Have a good ride guys. Sooner be getting bike ready to go at this time in a morning than getting up for work. I was looking forward to meeting more of the northern chapter (east branch) but I am sure that will happen over the summer months.

Brilliant ride today in which the weather played a huge part ...dont think I have ever seen so many peaks free of cloud so it goes without saying that the views were unbelievable ... Big thanks to Ant for a slightly naughty version ..and the rest of the gang for making it such a good day ...Kirky ( great to see you again ) , Dave , Jean , Jaco & Russell. Good to meet some new people out on the trail who joined the ride at various stages..a couple of lads from down John's way ..who's names I never did get and Johnny from Thornaby who also joined us for our burger treat at the Mill Inn , Mungrisdale at the end of the ride Being from the North East ...hopefully Johnny in particular will be joining us on future rides . Each of them said they would be checking out the forum ..so hopefully the other two lads might join rides closer to them ...anyway they were all good craic and would be a welcome addition to the "family" Pics to follow ..once Jaco has sent me his ... Thanks all !

I think Ste is already on here stevedoc, hes in the mtb uk strava club apparently. My first time on the Borrowdale bash and im certain Ants version would take some beating as one or two of the cheekies are amongst the bets descents, the first great descent of the day down from castle something or other was great, nice and long, loose, rutted, big drops and steep in places, lots of line choices including a bad one I did resulting in a OTB. Great to meet up with the North East posse again, all lovely fellows and lasses. Cracking days riding, mint weather and the views...... lunch break, the weather forecast was wrong it was touching 17c not 8c as forecast. the start of a cracking descent, steady at first and then steep, rutted and rocky, a good test of man and machine. The rest of the pics from today for those that like that sort of thing. I've got to learn to use some of the fancy settings on the camera. s1049.photobucket.com/user/kirky72/ULLSWATER/Bowderdale/story
