Great pics John ...how soon were you thinking of going back ? Those climbs today were tame in comparison to what can be expected next week ...if that's when you are going ..but you seem to manage them well

Photobucket currently undergoing site maintenance ..so pics later. I'm not going to give a detailed description on here of the cheeky bits ..and the only person I'm sending them to is windysurfer ...as he is up there a lot. Suffice to say though that there is absolutely no reason why these shouldn't be bridleway status ...and we encountered absolutely no animosity from the walkers we met ...quite the opposite in fact ... Well if you discount the fact that Ant nearly wiped out a good half dozen near the end who had to dive for cover ...

You the group coming up the steps where looking somewhat pissed after ant went bowling through them, he came in a bit hot from that last smooth descent forms cat bells as I stopped at the end of the trail unsure where to go, he came quizzing by, across the road in between traffic and off the other side down the steps. By the time I caught up the ramblers had re gathered and looked pretty angry one guy wouldn't move over and was grumbling to himself.
Every body else was most friendly.
Windy can check out the route on my strava if he hasn't already. The alternative start replaces mundane road climbs with a climb through a woods over a field and really good descent back down to meet the standard route much further on.

Well that was a brilliant day in the Lakes, the weather was just perfect, the route Ant led us round superb with the trails dry and dusty. There can't be a better way to spend a Saturday with your friends out on the fells on a bike. Good to see you again John and to meet a few new faces on the way round. Thanks to you all and to Ant for leading.

Evening everyone , I have to say again from myself and Rob(red five standing by..)a big thank you for letting us tag along we were both still buzzing when we got back into Keswick and had a drink down by the lake before we headed off to the overnight stay at Patterdale .I dont think a ride out could give much more a great bunch of people to meet and have a laugh with , stunning views and the weather was perfect ,just right no wind sunny and warm but not to much so. I did try yesterday evening to retrieve some of the video footage I took but the position of the camera let me down and front wheel shots are boring to say the least .
I will try to load a few images of the following day too around High st and Nan bield that in contrast was a differnt day ,no so much relaxed but more hard work ,the climb up Gatesgarth after the 17 k from Stavely was harsh but the final 10k back down Nan bield and through Kentmere made it all the worth while . Now i best get some new pads ordered as I blew through 2 sets this weekend ....well those 3" tyres take some stopping ......I miss my Five and fingers crossed back this week for its next outing ,shame I cant do Helvellyn but I guess its not going anywhere soon is it.
