Dependant on the weather outlook next Saturday I fancied the Cutgate doctors route or around Marsden area, if anybody fancies either.
its my last ride for a couple of weeks before I head to china so want to squeeze a good last ride in, somewhere different but not too far from home.

work for me cutgate and doctors gate are 2 seperate routes, but they could be linked into one tough ride. iv never done doctors gate but apparently quite alot of it is unridable due to the huge rocks.

I've seen a route with the two together, I think it's around 31 miles, probably a tough one.

John I was going to suggest macc forest to you or I would be up for marsden asa well. I am sure I went arse over fit on doctors gate the one and only time I have been to the peaks, I am sure gaz would confirm that.

Organise one of these epics in the summer when it's all dry and I'll be there. However 31 miles in the Peaks will be really tough if yesterday we did 6 miles less!? you would need to be really fit to do it...otherwise, stopping too much makes you go cold and thats never nice. unless its a really nice summer day and we can all get a bit of sun bathing... Won't be able to do it on this date.

just had a look at the cutgate/doctors gate suggestion. dont want to put any dampeners on it john if thats what you've decided but it doesnt look a great route to do both of them together. the actual doctors gate section is only approx 3 miles long and some of it is unridable (allegedly). the obvious way to link that with the landsett end of cutgate is then a long converted railway type family trail (longdendale trail).you would then have to link the howden end of cutgate with the start of doctors gate which would probs have to be done on a long stretch of A57 which isnt at all fun to ride on a bike with the fast nutters driving on there. id recommend doing cutgate then linking it with stuff around ladybower to make it an all day ride.

Noted thanks Glynn, Cutgate and ladybower should be plenty. Will wait until closer to the weekend and see how the weathers panning out.
Mac forest could be a good shout mike but I don't have a clue around there, the good thing with Cutgate is it doesn't need much navigation. Marsden could also be good.

I would not like to spend 1 min cycling on the Snakepass...it's scary enough just to cross it when you need to!? John, just ask Glynn to show you a ride through Stanage, Burbage, Blacka, etc! Much more fun too!

Im interested ,but I have to say Cutgate after the past 4 days weather will be wrong ,its not stopped for the last 9 hours here and the amount its put down will mean the top is completely saturated ,I did plan on a Marsden loop yesterday but again weather stopped play bloody biblical. Ive not ridden around Macc forrest but the main loop ive found all looks a little bland tbh , I think I will weather watch , I have a real Hankering for a lakes blast,
