Hi all anyone fancy a play in Thrunton woods on Saturday 25th June Ideally a 2 car route to avoid a 1ml tarmac hill at the end Will be cross country stuff but with option to do downhill bits if want - maybe a bottle of Talisker would help for this!

Last time I did a Thrunton ride with Colin we saw a Peregrine falcon being very effectively mobbed by a Raven, worth the license fee by itself, as they say... I did have a tumble which almost totally submerged me and my brand new bike in a very gritty and smelly bog, but still worth it.

You've been drinking ! I'm not Sherlock ...you mentioned in another post that you were going to a beer festival...so I'm going to assume that your normally faultless prose is heavily influenced by alcohol.. My question is this ..my learned friend .. How can a single raven " mob" a falcon? ....still sounds good though ( the ride )..and I'm in if I've got a bike ! Ps ...what is this licence fee you speak of...and more importantly ..find anything new of the golden variety at the beer festival worth smacking yer lips around ? I'm talking beer here ...lol

As my bike won't be ready ...I'm hiring the e-fat bike from Ian for the day.. Just wanting to check that this route does not include the carry up to the Crags as I will need a crash course on the weights machine if so !

Jean and I should be there now I've worked out which Saturday it's on.
We went to Kirroughtree on Saturday, it was excellent, bone dry not a single puddle just dusty trails and a few midges. Don't know why we haven't been back sooner, it is a least 4 years since we last did it. A lot of tree felling has taken place opening up great views. The trail is in a good state of repair too, will be going back soon.

Hi all if we can get 2 cars min there I can guarantee no climb up the first Crags from the valley ( but ride up it twice from the other side) - tried it a week ago and with the usual cursing and swearing turned round and went down again As usual hassled to hell at home Any chance some kind soul ( Neil) could do an email to the rest to try to get them on board Neil - totally confused - have you got a new bike or not - see forum post Don't really think you will need an ebike for this lot - why not just curse and suffer like the rest of us There will be a bit of 'stuff this for a bloody lark' but obviously that's what we are all about - and there are always alternative Will post start tomorrow

My own bike is in bits with Ian ...(so I am hiring an ebike for the day)..it won't be ready in time..two of the replacement bearings sent were the wrong size and that apart I still have an issue with the Maxle / fork leg threads which makes the wheel slightly unstable! I'm hoping this will get looked at next week by Gilly's uncle to see if a sleeve can be fitted ...but like Ian he is also away this week on holiday. I appreciate that I won't actually need an ebike ..but I'm hiring it for a bit of fun ...the reason that I asked about the Crags is that I definitely wouldn't be able to man-handled it up the section that I know due to the sheer weight ... We already have Dave, Jean,Graham , myself and you going ..and I'm sure that everyone else is aware of the ride..but have not yet said yeah or nay...but I will send out a reminder...

Fantastic day ! Got to say that around these parts Colin really knows his stuff ..Nick has been riding these trails since he started mountain biking ...but even he had his eyes opened today ..we are not talking the DH stuff here ..of which there is plenty ..but some really class singletrack .. Quick mention for the bike I had which was incredible it just gobbled up the technical climbs ..won't dwell on it but it was a Haibike Fatsix ..e-bike ..amazing ! A few pics to follow ..but my thanks to all for a real fun day .

I think the weather gods must of been on our side today the predicted thunderstorms never happened, in fact the weather just got better as the day went on. Colin thank you for leading us around in circles I was never convinced you knew exactly where you were going but we always got there ;-) It was a fun day with all kinds of riding, flowing single track, technical descents and the inevitable fire road climbs. Thanks all for some good laughs and great riding.

I have just found a tic on my leg although I checked in the shower when I got back last night. Those who were on the ride might want to check they are tic free!
