Starting with the other bits and bobs .. got some new stuff by mail order today ... The TLD helmet arrived ..and while not an exact match it did compliment the Camelbak rather nicely The Fox gloves are also new but I had to travel all the way down to Wheelbase at Staveley in the Lake District to pick them up .. which would have been a real ball ache if I hadn't picked this up at the same time .. ... I also got a new Topeak Shock pump ! The idea was to travel back and do Bolts Law ..I had full kit with me ..but on the way back over the rain got to biblical proportions ..so knocked that on the head. Things improved considerably by early evening so managed to get a couple of hours out on a local trail.. I will write a report as to first impressions tomorrow ..but a few pics for now ...

That looks fantastic. Shame you couldnt ride around the lakes whilst Yu were down there. Get on down to Ambleside on Saturday and test it out with me and Gareth.

i still think a dropper is THE single component that makes the biggest difference.

John ..I would but we are probably staying fairly local (Wooler in the Cheviot Hills ) ..waiting for CBM to get back to me ...but yeah she's a real purdy girl ..thanks . Glynn ...now that I have one on a bike ..yes ..even on the short ride I did it is a benefit ...

Lovely bike! Get a Topeak digital pressure gauge too! Dropper is great and a life-saver for sure many times (besides ball-saver) How many spacers do you have under the stem? ? Saddle looks comfy! Bike deserves some nicer pedals! Lol Enjoy

Thanks very much for all the comments everyone ...appreciated.. It's always nice when your peers agree with something you have bought and to that end my thanks for the advice offered before choosing . So ...what are my first impressions? To be honest I have been having sleepless nights as to whether I would be suited to a single ring set up ..I have never been the strongest of climbers ..and even though the Nomad weighed a bloody ton it was still a major concern going from 2x10 to 1x11 32t x 46...I even went so far as ordering a 30t ..but as it was on back order until 5.8.16 ..knocked it on the head I'm glad I did ! While I haven't become a climbing God overnight this bike is much more capable when the trail points up ..helped in no small way by the fact that both the fork and shock can be completely locked out ..and both the bike and rider are lighter( and getting lighter!)...a major relief . There is so much to get used to ...not least the various suspension settings ..a dropper post..which having shied away from in the past ..then more fool me! The wider rims gave great grip..but this will improve considerably once the tubes have been removed ( came like this )and its tubeless.. It accelerates well and on the one major technical down last night ..I didn't miss the 160mm of travel on the Nomad .. All in all then ...I'm absolutely chuffed to bits so far and things will get better with a bit more fettling ... I'm tempted to say that I wished I had bought a replacement for the old girl ( bike ! )years ago..but that would be doing her a great disservice..we have had some fantastic times together and been to some amazing places ..and I'm glad that she is still part of the family with my son taking over ..hope he gets as much enjoyment as myself . I would also like to offer a huge thanks to my better half..Gilly ...because as we all know ..we might think we wear the trousers ..but the reality is very much different ...and I'm sure she would rather have spent that amount of dosh on something else ..but gave me her blessing anyway . Loves ya ! She wasn't too keen on having the three of us in the bed last night though!!!..lol

What a cracker hodgy she looks great. Glad you are liking it, when I eventually get round to a new bike this is certainly one of my top 3, and maybe even top choice. Would be good to get a write up after a few months and you have had a chance to get used to it.

Excellent looking bike and have looked as this myself but no new bike for me for a few years yet.
Is that the camelbak mule NV? I'm tempted on changing mine which is 6 years old but can't decide it is worth it or not!
Glad to see you finished with one of my favourite ales too, just love that stuff.

Dan ...good to see you have a great sense of humour...sharp end ...that'll be the day!lol. Won't make Glentress this weekend ...Cheviots Saturday and introducing Alex ( my boy) to some Kielder reds on Sunday ( on HIS Nomad ) . Matthews ...good pedal taste is sadly dying out .. glad to see yours is still intact !
Jim ...if you like that ale ..also one of my favourites ..you should search out Golden Plover Ale ...by the Allendale Brewery ..being local to us I'm not sure if it ventures that far south ..but it's currently my favourite.. I know what you mean regarding new bikes ..I only had to wait 10 years ..but it was worth it... It's the Hawg ..fantastic bag ..and that particular colour can be had online for sub £80.00..can't remember which site though..
