Another route that needs a revisit... Fantastic singletrack in the 'Shire..Hexhamshire that is ..but there are hobbits if you are lucky enough to spot them ... Dave,Jean,Graham,Jaco..Colin ( if a certain bribe works!?)..Nick's unavailable and Russell is riding in the Alps ..but may fly back for this one as it's so good ( made that last bit up!) As everyone (above) knows there is such a network of trails in the area it's hard to know what to leave out ...but I wouldn't mind having another shot on the bridleway over Allendale Common to Sipton Shield..and maybe finish on the "Hidden Valley"cheekie and along Carriers Way Anyone else want to join the fun?

Add Ant & Ingrid to the list ... Russell isn't in the Alps ...it's near the end of August when he goes ...I have offered him a lift if he can make it ... Looks like a good turnout ...

Another great day out on the bike..good turnout too with Dave & Jean , Ant & Ingrid , Graham & Jaco . While never dusty the trail was pretty dry and made for some spot on riding. 21 miles on fantastic singletrack ..Graham probably reached 30+ miles having decided to ride to the start from home ! Special mention for Ingrid who is still getting to grips with with technical terrain ..but did fantastically well. A few pics Crossing a ford to start on the off road near to the start Choices ...but we are heading straight ahead towards Stobbs Cross Traction was a bit of a problem climbing away from the burn Feeding time at the zoo...Lunch stop after joining the Allendale Common bridleway ..a first for everyone bar Paul & myself who had previously done it on a night ride .. Graham giving his bike a talking to! Dave ,Ant & Ingrid Paul & Jean taking a break before the techy rockfest which ends the Broadway section And the rest of us ... A nice selection of bikes Graham & Dave admiring Dave's new Canyon Singletrack this good needs to be savoured not rushed [/URL
Cheers everyone ..cracking ride!

Felt a bit under the weather yesterday but still enjoyed a cracking day out, I have a very sore tired and despondent wife although she really enjoyed the day, she lost count of the times she fell off which in itself was really tiring, I,m hoping a new steed may help this problem

Well that puts the icing on the cake, after I was having shifting problems yesterday we discovered a loose rear cassette but after deciding it was tight I carried on, I stripped it this morning and discovered 2 disintegrated. Bearings and the freehub body is beyond repair , the axle is scored but maybe alright, moral of the story is wobbly cassette = go back to the car

That's a bit of a shitter Ant ... Do you think that the damage was already done or caused purely by carrying on with the ride ?

Great day out Neil, as usual thanks for organising us. Bit of a baptism of xc riding for Ingrid hope she has recovered. You forget how techy some of those moorland trails are with plenty of things to catch you out. We all had loads of pedal strikes in those fine bits of very narrow single track. Ingrid did really well and always had a smile on her face. Hope you get your wheel fixed ok Ant. Thanks all again for a very enjoyable day.
