Hi all, currently got some 140 travel Fox 32's on my Mega TR. Thing is I could probably do with something a bit more substantial as all my mates laugh at me for having weedy XC forks (not strictly true as I have no mates....) but they do chatter a bit (the forks that is...).
Due to saving like mad for the house move my budget is probably Max £200 so will have to be another set of 'pre-loved', so what could I upgrade to?
Thinking something min 34mm and and 140 - 160 travel. Have heard good things about the X-Fusion Slant and Marzocchi 350's or should I just get some Fox 34's?
Would love a set of Pikes but don't have the budget.

I would go for the x fusion. Should be able to get in your budget and talking to a suspension service centre they are withdrawing for marzocchi and monitou.
I think they said although they can work on then they often need to replace parts that they either can't get or when added to the service costs make the costs higher than the value.

I would look and keep looking on Pinkbike until some second hand Pikes come on. I've tried that in the past, tho top shelf forks are very rarely for sale .. I even asked at a couple of LBS to keep an eye out and left my number
Spose it depends how long you can wait if you don't know someone that's selling ..

I bet loads of RS fanboys will want to get the Lyrics...don't need to say it, but yeah, your forks are totally unsuitable for the Nuke beast. You could try and give TFTuned a ring and ask if they have anything second hand...maybe even one of their mechanics.

For a second I thought you had entered the Mega race, was going to post loads of photos of Iboprofen, best upgrade I can think of for that race.
Pikes are amazing, I have a 160mm set on me Kona and have been blown away with their performance. I would honestly suffer a few more months as its worth the upgrade. I hadnt really ever noticed the difference one for the to the next till I rode pikes

I didn't know they sold off their mechanics...any experience of this G ..as to how much the weekly food bill is and are they happy sleeping in a shed ..? I'm quite open to the idea but wouldn't want to give them full family status ..but having a pro in the shed to keep the bike in full working order really appeals . Good shout mate....

Pikes seem like a good choice - need to save a few more pennies unless I can get a decent used pair.
Although have spotted the Marzocchi 55 CR's on CRC for £240 (after discount). These are in 170 guise but can be quite easily converted to 150 with the use of a spacer apparently.

www.pinkbike.com/buysell/2071007/these are piss easy to adjust. undo bolt on bottom. take assembly out. adjust a little push pin to the 160 setting. replace and mint. might have to replace oil , i would. 10 min job even for novice.

They are, but not much difference overall. Will be dropping travel to 140 too.

Shit! You grabbed a HUGE bargain there mate. I paid 500 for mine also 34's Factory FIT4 150 travel...spoke to TFT guys who advised me when the time comes to service to invest the extra 30 quid to get the fork pushed because they say it makes a huge difference.

yeah. ill service myself tbh but only upgrade i added is slik graphics in mega yelow and black and lok wicked. A Push tune is more than just a service and supposed to make the fork even better. The mechanic from TFT told me that in fact the fork can be a lot better if Fox were to change something inside, that apparently they are well aware of it but decide not to do anything...i guess they need to keep things for the next model. Apparently, after the Push tune where they replace a few things inside, there is a bigger difference between the 3 modes.
