My MT500's are coming to the end of their weatherproof life, or will be soon I would think, after age's of reliable and comfortable service ..
Do I get another pair for all weather ? .. or is there anything else as good without being more of a full on waterproof short .. MTR's perhaps ??
Cheers

I've never had fully waterproof shorts, but again I won't pay above 50 quid for a pair...in fact I've just ordered some TLD Moto from CRC because they are at a good price. I have some RaceRace with DWR coating which are less than 40 quid at Tredz (with their 5quid off code) that are a bit repellent until things get really wet!?

Yep, love my humvee's too. Never bothered with waterproof shorts before as I tend not to go out if it's that wet.

Last winter I bought a few pairs of waterproof trousers from Planet X for a tenner a pair minus whatever discount code they had at the time. Plan on cutting some off around the knee so they aren't quite as boil in the bag, wear them over the top of a none waterproof pair. keep a pair full length as well.

The experiences I've had with full waterproof have put me off this type of short as they have usually ended up around my ankles ( unintentionally) as they slide too much due to there shiny texture ...for this winter I'm going to sport " water repellent "leg warmers ..Morvelo style. I don't really mind getting wet once out riding ..just don't like starting a ride if it's teaming down ! I did a Kirky style stream crossing ( fell in ) yesterday ..which my buddies missed but a group of ramblers didn't ...oh the shame!

Amongst the bargains at Evans were some M size Endura MTR shorts...34 quid but I had a 5 quid off code...these are supposed to be good in terms of waterproofing...fingers crossed they will fit me well!?

Yeah that's kinda why I didn't want full on waterproof as such, more water repellent like the MT500's, tho the ones Glynn linked above don't look too bad in that respect, and cheap! .. so not the end of the world if they are crap
Bad luck with the stream LOL! ... I did a shallow ish stream crossing up on the hills at Elan last week which luckily I made it through, but then 5mins later found the hill bridleway I was on ran through quite traitorous marshy area's .. found this out the hard way ... bike stopped dead, I kinda stepped off the side into what looked to be only about 4" deep, and my AM45 disappeared into the jet black gew
No doubt would've looked quite comical to an onlooker, but you couldn't see any sign of life in any direction up there other than the odd sheep, and the red kites soaring over head .. few!

Mine came today, first impressions are pretty good, very light weight and comfortable, if a tiny bit snug around the arse (treat for the ladeeez )
Not sure how they'll put up with the abuse ahead of them compared to shorts 3x the price, but we'll see
I couldn't help testing the water repellence, by holding them under a tap .. and TBH, they were quite impressive with the water running straight off like a ducks back, not really a test I know, but for £23 and free post, on the face of it they look like a winner at the mo !

More shorts should have an anti builders arse flap in my opinion ..nice feature as there's nothing worse than riding behind someone with an arse tuft on display .

Very impressed with the Endura MTR...and for 30 quid they were a great find!? Today on my commute i got some spray and all was great. They are also very very comfortable, even more than the TLD Ruckus. They are however quite light and maybe not as good for the cold days.

Think I will getting some MTR's also in due course, tho I'll give these Tenn cheapo's a crack for a bit first On another note, is it just me that doesn't have the option of using smilies anymore or have I pressed summut ?
