So I've been inactive as fook on the forum the last 2/3 months, put that entirely down to 80hr weeks at work with an hours drive to and from work each day. I ain't cut out for that and as such my MTB time has dramatically reduced. So I'm selling up..
HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA fuck that. I'm not.
So I know this is short notice, but Saturday 19th myself and 2 mates will be heading to FoD for the day, was curious if anyone wanted to join? It's a mixed ability set of guys I'm with, a few of you met one of them last time at FoD with the squeaky Canyon (not has a Nomad, the prick) and the other guy last came out with us 2 years ago and hired a bike at Afan and we almost killed him through hypothermia, so he's dumb enough to come out again. should be a laugh.
If any of you guys are able to make it, let me know as it'll be awesome to meet up with you all again!
P.S. Dr Watson, if you do come down, I'm wrapping you in bubble wrap.

We removed the ability to upload directly to the forum as users photos were filling up the space.
It's a simple process using Photobucket/TinyPic/Imgur. Keeps the forum running smoothly as well.

I can get most of the money back from it. Going to wait until it's confirmed I can or can't get the time off though.

All booked, but sadly the company has the ability to overrule any requests for time off if the needs of the business would need me in the building. Any other bank holiday would be fine, just during the school holidays it's a lot harder.

I'm really struggling to get the time off right now, didn't realise it was part way through the Easter holidays. Time off for me during these holidays is pretty much always a no go :/

I was using an Osprey Raptor for a while, but I've gone back to my EVOC bag, I don't need the masses of space it gives (I could use something a lot smaller), but the back protection is a great bonus.

I've found probably 20% of the off piste stuff. Quite a lot of it isn't near any of the main trails so you have to do a little bit of hunting. I was in South Wales loads last year (Cwmcarn, Afan (both sides), BPW), there's some awesome riding around there Afan and Cwmcarn are favourites for when you want to pedal uphill. BPW for just pure balls out down! Haven't been once this year though, work's taking up all my time sadly.

Things never get easier, you just get faster.
Your body will get used to it, so you'll push yourself a little harder to get that same feeling, rinse and repeat.

Ideally with your feet on the pedals. I tried using my shins once. Still have the scars. Follow getonyourbike's advice, he's probably one of the most qualified people here to offer advice.

Welcome man! You're not 'too' far from me, I'm up in Taunton, so right on the edge of the Quantocks, some amazing trails around there! Haldon Forest is fairly close as well, with some nice off piste stuff and the red run offering a good warm up for it. Gawton Gravity Hub and Tavi Woods are also VERY close, more DH orientated but 99% ride-able on your Enduro, my Knolly loves it.
If you're ever heading up to Haldon, give me a shout and I'll see if I can make my way down there.

PLEASE READ
All forum rides are purely social ventures, there is no structure, no official 'guide'. These are you following another forum member around some hills.
Mountain biking is an inherently dangerous sport and is undertaken at the riders own risk; this forum, staff members, users, or 'guide' is not accountable for any injures or deaths resulting from mountain biking during a forum ride.
This is pretty simple, you're all adults. You cock up, your fault.
-EDIT-
I've cleaned this thread out, this is now purely an announcement. Any suggestions regarding this, please PM me.

Sacked off a ride yesterday. Got up, everything sorted and got to the trails, loads of trees had come down, yup, back to bed! Our southern correspondent reports in yes, as bad as it is here, must be worse for you. Gay walker in the garage, here I come again Today in the south, we had the joys of 80mph winds. I'm glad I was working.

10 weeks after my crash and 2 weeks after my Doctor gave me clearance to drive, DVLA have withdrawn my permission to drive and asked for my driving license to be returned. Getting out of this one looks like being fun! The minimum "ban" I think I can get is 6 months, which with luck I can get from the crash date, not from a few days ago as it appears in the letter.
The good news though is that I'm running 30 miles a week and will soon be back on my bike
- with a new helmet of course....
All the best, you jammy buggers.
Let me talk to someone I know about that, spoke to them just after your crash and they were able to sort something. Let me see what I can do. Really glad to see you back on the forum and back out being active as well!

That would made a mammoth trail centre slayer. Wouldn't mind smashing around a few local places on one. No real need for a dropper on it either!

WTB Warden front and rear for me these winter months. Will probably put a Wolverine on the rear for summer.

Bermed corner, keep your pedals level so that your weight is all centered and you can use all your weight to pump through it.
Flat corner, outside foot down and learn the bike not your body, this keeps the centre of weight in the middle of the bike and pushing down into the ground allowing the tyres to grip, if you lean you'll be pushing the tyres out and risk sliding out.

Got to say I don't leave it very long now before I going looking for a rider if they are not down after me I started walking back up the beast Saturday looking for Ian after we stood there for a min or two .. Sooner lgo looking to make sure the rid Es ok in the group and not leave it so long plus a med kit . As well .. Talking of med kits, the mother gifted me one for Xmas after detailing the eventful BPW trip. I've got so many guaze pads now I could soak up most of the flood water in the UK atm. Andy, you'll also be pleased to hear that when I was at BPW a couple weeks after we all were the guys remembered my face and were asking after you. We MTBers really are a lovely bunch!

180 F/R. I did have 200, but new forks and lacking the required adapter means I'm on those. Soon though, maybe on a new build!

Glad to hear you're getting back to where you need to be! Everything will return with time and you'll be back to where you were before the crash.
Also, chicks dig scars.
