Wow ..one lucky guy! Don't know if that would apply to all ..the second generation lights have a built in coolant ..don't know if that in itself would have averted what happened ...?

Yeah I'm always a bit worried about em, I leave mine one the oven hob when charging them .. So at least nothing to catch fire to fingers crossed plus always make sure I'm in when charging as well...

yep looks like an idea to throw away the batteries and charger and get some from a reputable source.

I will pass this link onto my dad. He uses a Chinese light set on his commuter. Luckily the batteries are not charged inside the house but still
That looks rather fucking bad!

Thanks Euan for the warning. I was about to get some lights but will now hang fire(no pun intended).
Glynn, who are c&b please?
I used to have a PC world computer. Till it switched itself on, then set itself alight. I'm glad I was in when that happened.

I use a Chinese light, similar (looks identical to the CREE XM-L T6 LED 1000 on the above) I do keep an eye on charging etc and no mishaps yet...
Would be interested in changing hte batteries and charger though so may have to look in to it.

^^^ shizzle ..
I bought some ebay specials, £10 for two front cree torches, one rear light with mounts for all three..
Not rechargeable, but that's just me, I hate rechargeable batts, never used them (obv minus the phone). They take 3 AAA's each in the front torches and i am massively impressed. They are super bright . Naturally they aren't the best quality, but i expected that ..

It's happened to a few people I know!! Hence why I invested in some decent, safe, lights... Some things, you don't skimp on!... Specially when you have family, and pets in the house!..

well I went a bit mad just before crimbo and ordered a couple of lights was getting sick of the cheap chinky ones not holding the charge ,just never trusted them.. so ordered some of MTB Batteries went for www.mtbbatteries.co.uk/mountain-bike-lights/the-lumenator/ for my helmet its about as bright as my solar storm one but the batteries last so much longer then for my bars www.mtbbatteries.co.uk/mountain-bike-lights/the-lumen2200/4 settings plus a little bar button , low is great just for being on the road now I cant get over how long these batteries hold there charge used them a couple of times plenty of brightness , did a 3hr30min ride , so was out for say 4hrs got back. left the lights on all last night went in to the man cave and they were still on at 10.30 am now I know they are not that cheap to buy but compared to say hope lights R8 or something that cost 350 plus pounds im rather happy with there plus where they come from is local so any problem I'll just drop them back in.. im looking forward to using these for the next few months of dark riding .. reviews to follow plus did a little mod to the bar mounted one fitted a hope adapter to it .. now the light doesn't move or wobble .. with hope mod mite look for a helmet mod ..any ideas chaps ?? plus my good lady got me one of these as well www.chainreactioncycles.com/lezyne-zecto-rear-light-20l/rp-prod107765 wont tell her they are on offer now hehhe sarky will be glad to tell ya how bright they are
