Well a mans gotta do ....what he's been putting off for years! I have never ridden this trail centre before ..and do you know why ? Everytime anyone mentions this place it seems like the first thing they say is " phwwoar ..tough climbs "...I fcuking hate climbing but suffer it as a necessary evil ..the distance ain't a problem 14 miles including the blue I can pssss all over ..so time to introduce myself ...all the usual suspects are going so let's see what the fuss is about !

You will love it. Climbs are tough but well worth it. You have probably heard the North decent is awesome aswell as the South. North being the more technical loop and south being flowy. Enjoy!!

The climbs aren't so bad. They are quite long but not too steep and you're more than rewarded with the descent

Ste - got to ask this - is there a trail centre in the UK that you haven't done yet? Erm, let me think. Yeah, there's loads I've not done. I've only done 2 of the stanes. I've not done any south of cannock apart from afan and bpw. Must try harder

You don't half get about! yer jammy git! I'm quite lucky being from Preston . Most places eg Whinlatter , Gisburn ,Hamsterley and Degla are less than 100 miles so not too much travelling . I'm straight on the motorway from here too which means Glentress is only 3 hours away . Sorry for the hijack Hodgy

Why has it taken me so long to visit here .. That was immense! Definitely my kind of trail centre with a lot of the predominantly rocky surface hewn out of the mountainside ..with a very natural feel . The climbs were a grind ..but I had very little in my legs after a night ride on Wednesday ..and two hours of badminton yesterday .. But man oh man as Scott mentioned above ..more than worth it for the downs ! We covered everything inc the blue ...icy puddles on the tops and wet everywhere else. It's probably my second fav. trail centre now after GT . My thanks to my fellow riders ..Dave ,Jean,Graham for their company ..and special thanks also to Paul for the pint and chips in the Horse & Farrier in Threlkeld and to Ant for the lift there and back ..and also for not laughing when we got back to my door and getting out of his van both of my hamstrings cramped solid at the same time ..he probably thought I had shit my pants! I was in agony and it took me 5 mins to walk stiff legged just a few yards to my door ( Ant probably thought it was just an excuse..as he had to take out my bike and kit from the van !) My grateful thanks !
pics to follow ...

Haha ..both climbs are arse numbing ! Both descents had their merits ..probably slightly favoured the North ..can't wait to get there again ..it was excellent .
