Does anyone know if there is a stockist in the uk for the new short cage adaptor, I've got the zee mech and looking at going to an extender but would prefer to make sure it's right first time.
If I have to order from over the pond then fair enough

They don't do a short cage (or long) only a medium. Although you can buy an inner cage for the Zee and swop that as well as the Rad. I had to swop out my Zee due to this. Nowhere in the UK stocks them as far as I know.

Is the rad cage absolutely necessary? I'm awaiting the arrival of a 32t narrow/wide and was wondering if I can just get away with swapping the chainring onto a double set up, I assume I'll need shorter chainring bolts but will the medium cage XT Shadow+ be ok?
Edit - have the 42t pussy cog on the cassette

It may be down to front ring then? I'm running a double and the b limit was fine once I took the washer off. I was thinking more about when running a single chain ring set up. That's what you've got if I remember rightly Cogger?

The setup I've got at the moment is 1x10 RF 34t NW front and 11-36 rear with free ride Zee mech.
Any recommendations to go 42t on the rear or smaller on front???

well i run a 42 rear and a /30 /32 or 34 on front, with no rad cage, and a long cage rear xt shadow+, and it shifts fine up and down all i do is put in a extra link when using the 34 tooth front.

I've done a few rides since going 1x10 and pleasantly surprised myself. I'm 34 front and 11-34 at rear and not had to push anywhere yet. (Well maybe 100yds in the peaks on saturday)

That's what you've got if I remember rightly Cogger? I had one ride with 32t/11-42 but dropped to 30t for the degla meet.i`ve got the medium xt clutch mech (not sure if it`s the shadow,i bought it from jay) and the trouble I had was the inner much plate fouling the 42t ring.even with the plastic washer removed I couldn`t adjust it properly.once I`d fitted the rad it solved the problem. I was going to put the 32t back on but I don`t know if I`ll bother, the 30 seems to suit me and tbh I`m not using the 42 as much as I thought I`d have to but it`s nice knowing you`ve got emergency/get out/pussy ring....just in case. no doubt some cheeky young upstart will tell us seniors that expander rings are for softies
not necessarily,i got the blackspire snaggletooth chainring, the bolt holes are threaded so you only use the outer half of the chainring bolt.

cheers mate, I'm waiting on the superstars 32t chainring to arrive-no idea if that's threaded or not (probs not). I went 1x10 on the Cube which was a triple set up so easy to do, not so sure on a double crank though-hope the chainline is ok.
