All the blokes on here saying they haven't time to ride more than once a week has laid a guilt trip on me, lit a bit of a fire under me arse. I'm on nights tonight for OT but then off till next Tuesday, so better get some riding done.
Cheers lads.

Nelly..as one of the older generation ... Nowt to do with how you look ..some of my mates wear Lycra on a mountain bike and I take the piss mercilessly ..more down to the comfort element ..although I do look better in baggies ..and I couldn't really give a flying fig about looking " cool " ( I do anyway ..lol ) ! I dont care that these people prefer road bikes ..best place for them in my opinion ... No it's the attitude and arrogance that gets up my nose..not the fact that they get their two wheeled kicks on a different discipline ... I'm not just saying this as an anti -roadie thing either...I'm talking from very real experience and from nearly 20 years of riding Not having a go ...just explaining things as they are from personal real life contact

I don't want to get into the in's and out of it all, but I've met some real arsehole, arrogant Mtb rider's too. I did a few road sportives this year and everyone was friendly, you just have to remember that MTB rides are more social and you stop and have a chat with folk. With a road ride you are trying to go as fast as possible for as long as possible without having to stop, i always acknowledge other cycle users myself though.
I guess what i'm trying to say is you get arseholes in walks of life. The elitists in both disciplines on their 6k machines can look down on you sure, but I also had a 20 minute convo with a guy on a brand new Bronson who told us where the best lines and trails were.
Back to Pez though, variety is the spice of life!

I agree with you entirely barrfy - but as long as my bumhole faces the ground, no-one will convince me road biking is 'fun'

I agree with the Zulu on this one..
Road biking is THE most boring activity one could take part in on two wheels.
I'd much rather have Vanessa Feltz sit on my face than spend time on a road bike..

I just don't fancy it myself! Because I don't take part in the discipline of riding, I have to slate it... IT'S THE LAW!

I always lack motivation when riding alone at this time of year! Lone riding in the summer isn't a problem but with this weather, I just can't be arsed! I find arranging to meet someone is a good motivator. If I wake up and know I've got to meet up with someone, I'll get up and go. If i've not made arrangements to meet anyone, I'll just stay in bed.. And always regret not going out later on in the day. I've never listened to music whilst riding, think I'll give it a go though.. SClub7 here we come.. I've done the whole timing myself thing and it lost it's novelty. Deffo this! I tend not to ride alone this time of year!...
